Look at it like this. God is a God of grace and he doesn't WANt anybody to go to hell, but he is also a just God. If you had commited a serious crime and were standing before a judge and the judge said "I know that you are guilty and deserve to be punished, but since I am full of grace, I'm just going to let you go" That judge would not be doing justice. This is how it is with God. He doesn't desire for anybody to go to hell, but because he is a just God he has to administer the punishment. He cannot tolerate sin and he cannot let sinners into heaven. Because he doesn't want anybody to go to hell, he made the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus suffered tremedously and gave up everything so that everybody, you, and I wouldn't have to go to hell. He wants us to be with him and he has done everything he can to make that possible. Go back to the courtroom scene. You have been found guilty and charged a tremendous fine which you cannot pay. You are being led off to jail when someone opens the door to the courtroom, walks up to the judge and pays your fine. You are a free man. This is what Jesus has done for you. The freedom is yours. You choose where you go when you die, not God. Think hard on this matter it is the most important descision you will ever make.

That is an interesting question. I would have to answer it with one of my own:
If you do not believe in God, then why ask the question? I
f you do not then you wouldn't believe in Heaven or Hell therefore why worry about where you are going if anywhere..But if you believe in him enough that you would even ponder the possibilities of either, then you shouldn't worry.
God is not vengeful he is just watching to see what we become.. We are all here on the same planet though seperated by sea, still connected all the same.
I don't believe that he wants all of the credit. Why would he allow the existence of other deities. Even if they are considered myths and fables. They still exist or no one would even know about them. To my knowledge no one has ever seen God. It would get too technical after that.

as with most religious questions, the terms need clear and intelligent diffinitions. i.e. 'grace'. maybe going to 'hell' is an act of 'grace' - depending on how grace is defined and what about 'hell'? maybe 'hell' is just one of many benficial 'pay offs' for someone to experience/obtain god's 'grace'. And what about 'God'? Is God a 'male'? Is God really a 'God of grace' or is that a church created idea to control and frighten people? Does God actually do any of the stuff we are taught to belive God does, or is this another religious invention to keep 'sinners' frightened and submissive? Does God want us to 'believe' through fear and ignorance or from respect and love? Do you respect and love a God who respects and loves you or a God who threatens and scares you through a man written book - the Bible?

Because Heaven would be Hell to someone who didn't believe in God. Imagine a place where everyone praises and loves a being that you don't believe in. Would that be heaven for you. By the way he doesn't send people to hell for not believing in him. Satan believes in him as do all the demons. What gets a person to heaven is more than believing in God, it is letting God be Lord of your life. Which goes back to my point about heaven being hell for someone who does not believe in God.

Basically, it's a way to scare non-believers into converting, upon pain of death if they don't.
It's an unfortunate comparison, but one that has to be made... many religions use this type of "persuasion", some just take it farther than others. Consider how Al Qaeda wants to kill infidels for not believing in/supporting extremist Islam. This to us seems inhuman today, but extremist Christianity did similar things in the past with the inquisition, the crusades, etc. Luckily, we have calmed down somewhat and now we just talk about how god will torture you after you're dead, but we don't help him out with it by burning people, etc.

Because God is also a just God. If God let everybody into into Heaven then what would keep us from lying, stealing, or killing? God is a God of grace because we all deserve to go to hell but He gives us forgiveness if we ask for it.

He doesn't. Hell, Sheol, Hades when looked up all mean mankind's common grave. So basically it's just the grave, not a fiery burning place. God is just, but he is also loving and a loving Father would never send his child to a place of torture no matter how bad they are. Hell being a place of torture is yet another misconception of false religion today.

He's also a God of judgement. His grace only goes so far...until death. Before that He gives anyone every chance in the world to turn to Him. But the choice to believe is theirs.

I've been asking that of myself for a long time, and have come to two conclusions.
1) God isn't real; he was just made up by someone who wanted power over other people (and threats of eternal suffering got him that).
2) If God were real, he'd be Satan.
