Not Guns...but your Arms are needed!

This is a plea for civil disobedience while we still can. Today marks a day in history that every American should be ashamed of.

Mayor Ray Nagen takes yet another stab at the citizens of New Orleans with his order to send in the National Guard. The mayor's policy towards a militarized police state is unacceptable, and needs to be stopped.

Action must be taken to secure our lives, families and homes from these tyrants.

post here, post everywhere! let your voice be heard...spray-paint the buildings that have still never been repaired.

The only thing I agree with in your post (not really a question) is that we should spray-paint(sic) the buildings that have still never been repaired. Maybe they'll look better spray painted.

You are a putz. The plan that Nagin has put in place for the National Guard and the LA State Police frees up more NOPD for crime fighting in the populated areas. With the NG patrolling the less populated and unrecovered areas of the city, they can minimize the looting, squatting, and other related crimes. With the LSP in the French Quarter, the city can help instill a greater sense of security for tourists and returned locals.

Does it work? Take a look at the impact in only five days. Is it a real long-term solution? Not really, but if it helps people feel and be safer in the short run, then fantastic.

I have been back in the city since early October and the only thing I see that inhibits recovery more than incompetence in government is the incompetence of the citizens. Just like your stupid question.

Never forget one thing about New Orleans that will NEVER change: it's not the heat, it is the stupidity. Don't like it? Don't like the way the city is doing things? Move away. Have a nice day.

You are blowing this way out of proportion on several points:

1. Gov Blanco ordered the national guard into new orleans, NOT mayor nagin. Nagin has no military policy.
2. Only 300 national guard military police are being stationed in new orleans, and only until september.
3. The guardsmen/women are only deployed in the heavily damaged and sparsely populated areas. Their function is to relieve the NOPD of the patrols in those areas and protect property from looters (which unfortunately is still a problem).
4. Now the NOPD can concentrate on the increased crime in some of the populated areas.

I hardly call 300 guard troops in a sparsely populated neighborhood a military state - people need to chill!

Wait a minute....... Nagen is sending the Nat'l Guard here? For what? We needed them last year, but security seems to be back to normal. Thats crazy, y dont he wait till we really need them? Like the next hurricane when looters are running rampant.

You sound like the one they are looking for - you know, the one who shot those people.
