All the songs are extremely sexual in nature and offensive, even the "love songs". It all glorifies the use of drugs and alcohol. It advocates the mistreatment of women and girls. The videos always portray women in a negative light, in sleazy clothing and always the objects of sexual lust. I know all cultures listen to this mess, and see the videos, but most all black youth (and black people) seem to have a special affinity for this derrogatory music. I don't allow my son to listen to it. Then, is the kids don't have the clothing that are featured in the videos at school, then they are not "cool" and get made fun of. I think most hip hop should be banned. It's taking black people back 80 years, and destroying kids minds with oversexed, materialstic nonsense.

I agree 100%. It tries to portray blacks as purely Gangsters and players. With no care for women besides sex. All of the rappers today speak about this ****...and it's all the same. Gangters, Money, Sex, Violence....its all something that young kids look up to because they see them with beautiful women that are half naked and them in designer clothing with awesome cars and mansions. It doesn't show the reality of the world. And the truth that half of the rappers cant afford any or most of the things in their videos but just get it for the video to this greatness of rap and being a gangster
Listen to Dead Prez and some Talib Kweli
Thats a bit away from the Gangter Rap

I do feel as though "Hip Hop" music does portray women in a negative manner as well as promote sexual lust. However I do not feel as though any Hip Hop should be banned . Parents should instill in their children the important aspects of life as well as morals and priorities. If a parent decides not to allow their child to listen to or watch "Hip Hop" music then that is ok as well . It should be left up to the parent for their own child not everyone else. To me the music suggest different things just like music 20 and 30 years ago suggest various things. The only difference is the time frame.

Hip Hop gets a terrible name. Nothing we see on MTV and the radio is Hip Hop, its all rap music. Therer are plenty of hip hop artists with a decent message. Look at Mos Def or Talib Kweli or Jurassic 5, Blackalicious, the Lifesavas, Lyrics Born, Pigeoon John. There is is plenty of good music in that genre that isnt degarding to woman and violent, but because of people like 50 cent and Juvenile and all the other garbage out there it all gets lumped in together. Its ridiculous.

I think the question should be why are Hip Hop and R & B artists singing and rapping about those things. Hip Hop and R & B artist haven't always made songs about those things. Furthermore I wouldn't single out hip hop as being sleezy and offensive. I think TV and movies as a whole have become lax on morals. By the way sex sells and so does negativity.

I don't believe it destroying the morals of the youth of today, but the prevelant, mainstream hip hop isn't helping build them either. But, not all hip hop glorifies violence or women's bodies. There's a long tradition of politically conscious, forward thinking hip hop. From Public Enemy (one of the greatest bands ever), thru De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, the Fugees, to Common and Mos Def. I may not like most of the rap out there, but the uproar over the years does remind me of the criticism of Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis (aka The Killer).

I completely agree with you except for the fact that its just black youth.....I think there are many Mexican kids and teens listening to this music that its corrupting...not just black.....I think anyone who listens to it can destroy there morals....just seems like black youth because most of the hip hop singers are black....but it touches all cultures.

I confess, I am "hooked" on some of it. But agree with what you said. I think it is destroying the morals of the white's just as much as the blacks. It is getting extreme with the sex and drug content. All that can be done is to teach your children about what is right and wrong.

i think it is destroying the morals of all youth. Especially females! It disgusts me that so many females today have absolutely no self respect. They allow themselves to be viewed as an object rather than a person who actually thinks for themsleves.

I agree 100%. Someone need to step in and be responsible. But because we live in a world where money is everything, something will not change. Many of the artist will say "thats my job as an entertainer" or " its just entertainment". But to me its more than that, because our young people are getting sucked into it thinking thats the life they want to live. As for the young women in the video, I just think it degrading. Our young ladies now have no respect for themselves, because they think its cute to have their tail hanging out. I just wish someone will step up to the plate and say "THATS ENOUGH"
