A correction here... everyone called the kid right, but a female is definitely a doe and a male is called a buck (same terminology as deer and rabbits). And castrated males are called wethers... steers are castrated male cattle. Any serious goat breeder would be quick to correct the use of "nanny" and "billy" when referring to goat genders.

Goat families are made up of 'billies' which are males, 'nannies' which are females and 'kids' which are juveniles.
Goats are quite intelligent animals -- right up there with dogs, in fact, and except for a billie when he's in rutting season, they don't smell and are very gentle.
