I found new job in other state. is it required for company to help you with the moving expenses? if not, is it appropriate to negotiate this with the company? What kind of expenses is covered?

This is my first time moving to another state for another job. Any suggestions are mostly welcome.

Negotiate as part of you accepting the job that they pay some moving expensese. It is all open for negotiation. They could pay realtor fees (if you have any), costs of professional movers, meals, mileage, etc. You can negotiate whatever you want in order to accept the job.

Some companies will just give you a flat dollar amount, then let you take care of actually getting it done, while others will reimburse for actual expenses (save those receipts).

It depends on how bad you want to move and what that cost means to you.

Unless the company recruited you from another state and you negotiated the moving costs with your work contract, then they will probably not pay for your moving costs (nor should they). I am assuming that you searched for this job, and knowing that it was out of state still accepted it. So, the cost of moving falls upon you.

It is not required that the new company pay for any of your moving expenses. It should have been negotiated before you accepted the job. Best of luck.

It really depends on the company and what your job is. All you can do is ask the company.

My son recently took a job in another city and his new company helped with the sale of his current house, paid to move his household goods and covered many of the closing costs on the new house he bought.

He is an experienced engineer with specific qualifications. That kind of thing can make a difference.

You can negotiate with them. The worst they could say is no. I know that some companies pay for the moving trucks.

If you chose to work out of state then I would think that the relocation costs would be yours. I mean it's not as if this company asked you to take the job is it?

A relocation bonus is something that companies typically offer. Ask the recruiter. The worst thing they can say is no. But then it never hurts to ask, as relocation program is standard for many companies.

Not required. Why should they care if you have to move. You could ask them to pitch in and see what they say.

I think you can deduct it on your federal taxes though if you do need to relocate for employment purposes.

If you found them - you pay....If they recruited you or used a head hunter - the moving costs would be part of your hiring bonus
