I was just wondering what school or classes did you take? How long did it take you to complete the courses? Are you a freelance or employed by a hospital or other organization? And if you don't mind me asking how much do you make?

my mom is employed by MedQuist. she went to school for medical transcription and also teaches some MT classes at the community college.

You don't say what country you're in. But forget that career. Go for medical secretary. The transcribers just listen to recorded notes from the doctor and do key to disk. In the UK they have plans to send those notes abroad where the transcribers will do it cheap. Of course it will be like the call centres - they won't understand properly, make mistakes and it'll be a disaster. But the money counters don't care as long as it saves money. Who cares about saving lives.
