When I was a child, there were these little mechanical monkeys that had cymbals, and you'd wind 'em up and they'd smash the cymbals together over and over. The monkeys had this evil grin. They always used to scare the crap out of me.
Then Stephen King wrote a story about one that a kid found in an attic, and it would start banging its cymbals all by itself, whenever someone was about to die.
