I suppose so. I personally consider myself on the effeminate side in some ways but masculine side in others. My voice, for instance, can be rather high-pitched and effeminate and I've been working on it with a tape-recorder so I know I CAN sound masculine, it's just going to take some more discipline from me. (Don't judge, I've been made fun of for this, even assaulted to the point I was hospitalized, for as long as I remember). Some may call it trying to act straight and it probably is. All I can say is that I'm trying my best to get by in a close-minded part of the country.

I've seen many effeminate gay guys try to act masculine, but it just looks phony. You can easily tell whether they're putting on a show or if that's their real self. I find that the trying-to-be-masculine types set off my gaydar just as much as the comfortably-effeminate ones. It's the genuinely masculine ones that are hard to find - because you have no idea they're gay! Until you spot them checking you out...

Interesting query. I have people argue with me when I tell them im gay just because I dont play the flamer part. I remember when I was younger and looking for a boyfriend, I would try to be swishy just so a guy would flirt with me. It was a horrible disaster. I looked like a straight guy trying to walk in heels. Eventually I just gave up and accepted myself as who I am and I think flamers do the same thing. Just accept themselves for who they are.

I think that he can't.. 'cause if he is gay or effeminate it's not for his fault but it's thank to the own gene.. and the gene never chenge!!! so if you're effeminate you can have sure that you won't change... but if you're effeminate just 'cause u want.. so you can change!! but I do not think that... bye bye

growing up as a teen, I recall being mistaken for a girl ( I had a big mop of brown curly hair)(Hey, it was the 70's)
I'm now 42, and I'm told all the time, except those that I'm intimate with :) that I do not seem like I could even be gay, I'm so butch.

you can take pitch classes and manner classes, I've seen it, I don't agree with it cause i think you should be truthful to who you are, but it is a personal choice.

No but anything is possible if you worked at it, but that doesn't change who one is. Just how they act.
