why do girls have to shave their legs and guys don't have to?

Girls really don't have to shave there legs and it isn't practiced in all countries. I think it is a women's way of appearing feminine and just a distinguishing beauty aid not practiced by the vast majority of men. Guys feel it a feminine thing to do and most but not all would feel foolish and unmanly to do it. That being said many male body builders do it for competitions so the hair doesn't detract from their muscular features.

Well girls don't HAVE to shave thier legs it's just that everyone thinks if your a girl and don't shave somethings wrong with you or your nasty. It's kind of like everyone is giving women the impression that if you dont act like all the other women that do then ur weird. Or maybe its just a way that women want to seperate thieself from men. Just my opinion lol

Originally modern leg shaving came about when restrictions during World War 2 made it so women could not buy nylons. So women began shaving their legs, sometimes even using a pencil to draw a line up the back to make it look like they were wearing stockings. I guess after that it just became the societal norm.

could you really picture going to the beach, or outside on a hot day, and seeing women with a full set of hair on their legs like men have?! Its much more feminine to not have hairy legs. That is why guys usually make fun of other guys that shave their legs. Personally, I dont like lots and lots of hair on a guy :)

Male swimmers DO shave their legs, and their arms and their chest & backs...it acutally increases their speed in the water.

Now, the whole concept of shaven women (at least in the western world) was based on a marketing ploy.

It's a cultural thing. Many women in other cultures do not shave their legs (or anything else i.e. armpits). Some guys (althletes) shave their entire bodies!! It just depends!

Uh, who said you have to? Either can, I have a very good male friend who does shave his legs. and I have female friends that don't. I myself do. It's all in personal preference. If you like your leg fuzz, then keep it, if not, shave away. = )

guys like caressing girls legs so they need to shaved and feeling smooth, where as girls don't go around caressing guys legs. Its a manly thing...i guess

b/c women dont have beards to shave so we shave our legs instead lol
