Because you're a girl. As much as bad things can happen to boys, parents worry about their girls more. Girls are more vulnerable. But keep in mind, she's just doing it because she cares about you.

Well, is your brother older? Were you going alone or with friends? Does you mother like and/or trust your friends? Do you hang out with trustworthy people? Have you given your mother a reason to say no? Be honest with yourself.

Also, talk to your Mom. Tell her how you feel and ask her why she said no and what you can do so that she will say yes. And then, no matter how wrong you think she may be, realize it is her rules and you have to live by them. Life will be easier if you do. Work hard to earn her trust and let her see how responsible you can be.

It has to do with economics. Girls at a mall can be expensive outings. Boys are not inherent shoppers. Moms usually have to buy things for them and they can't wait to leave. It's frightening to a parent to take a daughter to the mall. That's why, although they'd never admit it for fear of hurting your feelings, they originally hoped for two sons, not one of each. But don't let that get you down. You'll find your own way to get to the mall. :)

Why do you assume she is mean just because she doesn't let you do something you want to do. Perhaps she is more worried about you going to the Mall than your brother.

Perhaps your brother is more mature than you? Perhaps she is worried because you are a girl & girls are more likely to be taken advantage of? Perhaps there is a reason why your brother needed to go there, while you were just going to "hang out." Perhaps you haven't demonstrated to her yet that you are responsible enough to go to the Mall to hang out.

Don't be afraid to ask your mother to explain her reasons. But be happy and proud that you have a mother who cares.

Then again -- it could be that she is just mean.

Maybe it's in How you asked....Body language and tone of voice and also if you have been pleasant and loving and well-behaving. The Mall can be fun for the mom too, you know...what do you do once you get there?,,,,She may want to spend time with you while there to see your taste in clothes and home decor and jewelry and shoes and chocolate!

that is a fascinating question. if we historically analyze the intricacies of family structure and reflect on the complex relationship among family members, we will doubtlessly come to the conclusion that life sucks and your mom likes your bro better.

p.s. ~ i never knew that bro stood for brother. thats what people always mean! thanks a bundle!

I am a parent .....

The point you miss is that all parents have been drven insane by the time they have raised any child beyond the age of five.

We can't help it that we are stupid .. you children people have sucked out all of our brains.
