send them off to grandma and grandpa's.....actually no....when my kids were little I had to work...we were enlisted military...so that meant little or no money...we used to sit down at the end of the school year and decide what to do with the summer....we made the most of "free" things available in whatever community we lived in...you need to contact the local schools and see what they have going for the summer....local parks may have some summer programs....if you are on your own....look in the local paper for upcoming events and plan them around your work day....let the kids have some help in planning....at least once a week go on a picnic to a different park in the area.....within about 50 miles....bring some of the kids friends.....and maybe another parent for help supervising...and do not forget the music....have a battery powered radio...they are about $10. at Walmart...and batteries for the radio....if cash is an issue have the kids go around to local parks and schools and collect cans to turn in for cash....when we lived in fl..we happened to live near the ocean and my kids made a small fortune collecting cans off the beach on sat and sun mornings....they made enough to go to an amusement park near us...Disney World...but look in the local papers they are a wealth of information...most public libraries have some sort of reading program going on at least 1-2 days a week....and if all else fails.....then there is always grandma and grandpa....but seriously....let them help plan...have the paper in front of you and make sure that they learn something....I know that pizza hut has a reading thing going on most of the time...if they read so many books they get a free personal pan pizza...sit and read with them in the evenings....i think that this program is run through local libraries...and then when they get enough books read use the coupon on as a rainy day event.....trust me it helps....GOOD LUCK.....

Well not sure what your kids are into, but that is the first step find out what they like. If they don't know the introduce them to things that you like doing. Me I take my oldest out child once a month for a ruckmarch (army thing), he doesn't enjoy that to much but once we get to our camp ground and spend the weekend under the stars. He enjoys the weekend. My oldest and middle child I play video games, soccer, and baseball with and my newborn i just talk to him and play with his toys with him
