People are honking horns and wasting petrol like crazy here right now because of a MEANINGLESS win over Ecuador. These people act like they won the World Cup and act like they have never been here before. Tomorrow they will be right back to their sobbing complaining about how bad the German team is. It kind of confirms my long-held belief that Germans are just interested in seeing and being seen rather than doing, saying, or celebrating anything of substance. I look forward to when they play a decent team.Your thoughts?

It may be meaningless but is a chance for a country to be united in a celebration; they (and we all) celebrate victories in the world cup because it is a competition against the best 32 teams of the world; if you win a match you CAN say it is meaningless because of the round or the game circumstances but nevertheless it is your country winning against one of the countries that proved to be good enough to qualify. Maybe Germany is not the best team in the world right now but it is their world cup and they should enjoy it as I think they are.

Well icant blame the Germans for celebrating . Their team did play great football. Also consider the fact that Germany had not got past the group league in EURO 2004 so they can celebrate. And being faced against a decent team ? i think Germany is good enough to beat England if they meet in round 2.

Well they did just win their group after all - the fans also had some doubts about the team before the comp kicked off so no harm in them being happy about the performance - the same happens in any other country when the home nation team wins, especially if that country is hosting the event - let them enjoy - in fact don't be boring go and join them for a few beers.

They are undefeated in the World Cup, thus far this year, and the first team to do so. Moreover, they will have to go up against the second place team from Group B next, while Ecuador will have to go up against the first place team from Group B.

That's a pretty obtuse way of seeing another culture, don't you think...Just enjoy it, have fun...I'm sure that's all they want out of it.

Also, every other country in the world that takes part in the world cup acts the same way. I live in China right now and you should see how crazy they get here, and they aren't even competing!

It was their better win and their best played game so far. And a victory is a victory, not matter what. Everybody is entittled to celebrate. Go ahead, germany, celebrate ( until you face my country's team ).
