Northwestern Univeristy, New York University, Cincinatti Conservatory, Oklahoma City University

are the TOP schools that have MANY Broadway actors as alumni. Basically if you want to be on Broadway major in musical theater. Classes like Acting, singing, dance, performance are great.

It doesnt' matter if you want to do Broadway or theater. Your talent agent will decide if you are suited for Broadway, commercials, films, etc. As they are the people submitting you for roles.

New York University has an excellent theater department. As for which classes to take, don't worry about it.

No matter which university you choose, you will be given a list of courses that are required for a BFA in Theater, and later, for your MFA in Theater.

If you live in a major city, try to find out which university, if any, has a strong theater department. Also, if you are serious about acting, you should get an MFA in theater. Talent Agents and Casting Directors, like to see that on a resume. You go to the top of the list of actors submitted for projects, with an MFA.

You have to find a college with a strong theater department with EXCELLENT acting teachers that are known to have taught students that have becoming working actors.

It's best if you go to a great school in a major city, like New York. New York agents are snobs, they don't want to see that you went to some "no count" school for theater. It's all about prestige here.

If you want to be a working actor, you can't go to a school in a small city where you won't be able to go to attend Broadway shows, or, go on auditions in NYC.

Remember, this is about your future career! A poor choice in schools can make or break your career goals.

Good luck.

If you want to be on Broadway then you should double-major in Theatre and Dance and/or Music. If you do not have significant talent in either dance or music (or both) in addition to your acting talent, you will be a much less valuable (and desirable) commodity for Broadway. Look at Northwestern and all the NYC area powerhouse programs: especially NYC if Broadway is your goal. If you are an outstanding actor, but weaker in the other areas, look at Yale as well and consider and a career in nonmusical theatre and hope that pathway can get you in a Broadway show.
