Mix some common ********* with diesel fuel and ignite it. You can demonstrate how farmers blow up the stumps of cut down trees. Now that would be a blast!
Just kidding.....
Consider a solar cell, or something relating to alternative energy. It's a hot topic now and maybe you will find a new source of very cheap Energy! Think about the guy that invented a radio that uses a hand crank to power it (no batteries needed). Think of the impact for 3rd world countries to be able to get the world news. So simple and idea yet capable of changing millions of lives.....

i just finished 8th. it wasn't as hard as people say it was going to be. even though our teacher was bad, we did some alright stuff. what i remember the most is the bottle rockets. we got a 2 liter bottle and used pressure from water to propel it. lets see....there were lots others but none that really stick out. we did balloon cars, and we made a model that showed how the earth/sun/moon balance each other. many others too...

well, if you want a good grade, don't do anything stupid or that has been done before like cleaning a penny with salt water. why not try something totally new and un-thought of? like, thinking mathematically, will doing w or x to y cause z outcome? for example, will uh, let me think, will watering a plant with milk or coffee cause the plant to grow better, with a control using water, and use all the same seeds with same potting soil and same size plant pots and even amounts of "watering", and to measure progress measure the height of plants. get creative though, i just used that as an example because I saw someone doing that once before :P.

Get some seedling pine trees from a gardening store (they may donate).

Irrigate some with the water and some with dilute sulfuric acid. Note differrences in growth.

Hypothesis: Acid rain negatively influences growth of pine trees.
