Texas, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida (geographically it's Southern but otherwise...), South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia. These states are considered Southern, as are their cities.

Some people call West Virginia southern. I'm not so sure I agree with that.

No part of Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, or Delaware can be considered Southern in any way.

My picks:
-Favs: Galveston, Austin, San Antonio, Ft. Worth, Memphis, Nashville, Mobile, Southhaven, MS
-Okay: Knoxville, Clarksville, TN, Jackson, MS, Dallas, Houston
-Not-so-favs: Louisville, Lexington, Orlando, Northern Virginia, New Orleans

-My favs: they're my favs b/c of the natural beauty, attractions and people
-Okay: these cities have a lot to offer but just doesn't suit my personality. I have nothing against them, though.
-My not-so-favs: these cities are beautiful (in some ways, at least,) but the people can be pretty rude.

Never been to Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, either Carolina's. I hate Kentucky, Tennessee, ans Mississippi cause they are just nasty and i hate them. I loved Virginia i guess it was the mountains and being so close to DC that made me love it. New Orleans was awesome but I was also in the French Quarter the whole time. Alabama was okay that a take it or leave it. I did not like Atlanta but maybe it would be better know seeing how i went during the Olympics. Now comes Florida, I loved Jacksonville, Ft. Laurderdale, and Pensacola. I hate Orlando and Miami the people are rude there and I wont ever go back again.

-Favorites: San Antonio, Austin. Friendly people, hot weather (as long as it doesn't get too hot,) natural beauty, great park-like settings. Let's not forget Belton, TX...a small town near Ft. Hood that is wonderful!
-Okay: Anywhere in Tennessee east of Nashville. It's beautiful, but the state doesn't offer much east of Nashville and Memphis. Little Rock is pretty, but don't get in the wrong part of town at night...that's any city, though; if that's Arkansas' best, then that state sure doesn't have much to offer. Lexington, Ky is pretty, but the traffic grid is terrible.
-Least favorites: Louisville. I despise that city for the same reason as you.

I don't like the city I live in which is Columbus, Mississippi. Everyone is always in your business and if your not rich or if you don't hold an important work position then you don't matter. I love Pigeon Forge and the Knoxville area of TN because it is a tourist town and everone is trained to be nice and accept everyone. I also like Pensacola, FL and Gulf Shores, AL. I hate Atlanta, GA with a passion for the rude drivers.

San Antonio is my favorite and I'm going to be moving there in 6 months!!! There's so much to do there, lot's of shopping, it's a huge city but it doesn't feel like it. It's clean and well planned and the people are so friendly! In fact, I've decided to make Texas my new home state...and I'm a native Californian!!!

Much of Missouri is definitely Southern. In fact, the southeastern corner of the state, because of the Mississippi River's influence in shaping the area historically, could be considered the northern most area that could be considered the Deep South.

People....... Arkansas is beautiful. If you have only been to Little Rock there is more to Arkansas than that. Especially NW Arkansas. And its rural only 1.3 million people in the whole state.

Southampton isn't bad, although anywhere south of the Watford Gap Services lacks civility!
