I have heard recently that in antartica the sun will burn a hole melting all the ice, causing a flood, with numorous tidal waves.. I just wanted to know if I will be around when this happens...

One thing is sure...
There are too many incidents and events and facts around that just makes it impossible to avoid the issue.

Winters are shorter, summers are hotter and the increase does not need the help of scientific expertise... Just in the last 5yrs was enough to witness major weather modifications.

Think of the number of Hurricanes just in Florida, the Eeastern the Golf Coast states of the USA

The increase in Tornadoes...
The villages being moved away from shores in Alaska and some places in Canada.
Gaciers that used to melt at a rate of a couple of feet a year are now melting in terms of Kilometers and miles away PER YEAR.

---

Being realist is not being doomsday... At least by addressing the issues we are feeling we are part of the game and can do something about it and we can even laugh through the process.

Get it straight people. Global warming is occurring, but NO ONE knows whether it is just a natural cycle or pollution driven. The depletion of the ozone was due to CFC's not any other pollutants and we have since stop using them. It will take some time to be replenished but the ozone layer isn't going to go anywhere. Global warming by gases introduced into the atmosphere is over blown and most don't even get the theory correct. The worst warming gas is methane (which is 12 times worse than CO2) and is produced naturally. In fact, farts are the largest contributor of methane in the world and cows are the number one producer of it.

Hurricanes go on a natural cycle due to changes in how the transatlantic current runs. These changes occur NATURALLY and we are just on a similar cycle as the 1940's-1960's. Meteorologists have been predicting that this type of cycle was due to come and they see it lasting for the next 10-20 years.

As far as the main question, yes global warming is going on and is effecting us. As far as drastic effects, none are going to occur any time soon. But there are several other concerns (like a huge earthquake building off the U.S.'s western coast) which scientist know of and are trying to prevent it occurrence or atleast minimize its effects.

No, I believe THAT hole in the ozone layer is closing. The last time we had a 'Global warming', there was more water than we have now, but the whole planet wasn't covered! Why worry that suddenly the wholeplanet will be covered again? What will be affected are those who insist that they MUST live on a coast. IF we humans did not feel a need to live near where all the disasters happen ANNUALLY, perhaps there would be LESS loss of life to the weather.

if we continue with particulate pollution the global dimming effect will prevent this however governments all over the world are cutting down on particulates for public health....totally reasonable but with detrimental effects to the environment....there is a delicate balance between the CFC's causing the hole in the Ozone layer and the particulates causing global dimming. we discovered this effect when 9/11 happened , planes in the US were grounded for 3 days, so there were no contrails in the sky. This caused the average temperature in the US to rise by 3 degrees this may not seem like a lot , but that was only 3 days.

the ice caps have already reduced also...so it is possible you will be around if the rate of particulates and CFC's become imbalanced

Yes ofcousre Global Warming will destory lot of our weather trends on earth. From past 10 years in US alone weather has been changing every week. There has bee severe weather conditions than ever before. Storms and Wild weather will worsen and eventually make human beings more aware of their surronding that they survive needs to given care too. If people do not really care now wait till the worse hits. To survive all animals on this planet need a habitat to live of off. If that habitat is distrubed in anyway it hurts the living things surviving within. So If humans do not help themsleves to taking care of their surroundings than how will the destruction be controlled. God made things so humans can be safe. But Humans choose not to be safe than its not God fault for Global warming. Its like shooting yourslef with a bullet on your leg and than screaming for help because it hurts like crzy and theres nothing you can do about it untill emergency arrives. Y wait for that emergency help do something. Save energy, drive energy efficent vehicles, RECYCLE please don't be ignorant. Aggrogancy and Ignorancy are symptoms and if nothing is done soon. Destruction will take over. Global Warming is a symptom right now in next 20 or 40 years it will be a disease and than a killer of nature. Nature is vital for survival. Take Action while there are symptoms that can be cured. Don't wait for the disease to arrive and open your eyes. Global warming is here do something about it. If the young generation and youth won't care than how will the generations after give a care. Government can not be blamed for everything. People make and break goverment and their leaders so Y can young generation and young youth Give a care at least take the garbage out and separate the recycle. Global WARMING is GLOBAL WARNING!!!

Well that depends on how old you are. I'm guessing you are a teenager... Global warming shouldn't have a big effect anytime in the near future (10-20 years). But there are many variables that could cause major problems, like the melting of the ice caps for one. Increased heat would also mean deforestation and excessive increase in deserts...

The increased number of hurricanes and tornados is already happening.
The arctic ice will not produce as much of a sea rise as the thawing of mountain range ice caps. That is measurably happening, too.
It is already having an impact on wildlife, which will have an impact on people. In my part of ohio, waterfowl no longer migrate to warmer regions. This has caused coyotes to move into this area. They are not returning, they are non-native. The distribution of waterfowl and crowded conditions caused by this non-migration may directly impact the development of bird flu.

Honey its affecting us now! Damage is done, the earth is allot warmer now and that not a good thing cause the Sun is much stronger than it was 40 year ago. Even if we stop polluting the Air it would take over a 100 years to start seeing a difference

The signs of global warming are already here. The glaciers in the national parks are melting, the weather overall is warmer, and weather patterns have become more severe. The process will be gradual. In the future we'll probably see higher ocean levels, hotter temperatures, and more hurricanes.

Yes, it is affecting you already. The thing that is saving us is that pollution has also changed the size of water particles in clouds, making them smaller. The smaller droplets cause more sunlight to be reflected back into space which causes global cooling. In fact the earth receives 20% less sunlight than it did at the beginning of the 20th century. If it wasn't for this we would be in a gigantic mess.
