Yes, people think we are just handed everything because of the way we look. What people don't tend to realize is how we earn our positions in life, and have to work harder than most to prove we are capable.

Yes it is a type of discrimination. It could be possible if there are alot of ladies that work with you and are maybe older and lack self confidence. Most people especially women, are easily intimidated by the "prettier" woman in their office giving them the need to feel offensive and on the ware. There is also that stereotype that pretty women can't be smart or do a job right because the only reason they got that job is because they're simply pretty. Which is totally dumb but I know from personal experience it makes women uncomfortable and quick to talk about the pretty girl only because you INTIMIDATE them which is totally unfair because you can't help it! I think you should tell your boss you're being treated unfairly and if its the boss that feels that way and is doing the discriminating, look into your office handbook and see the guidelines as what to do and maybe take it to the higher-ups.

Yes you can be discriminated against because you are pretty. First of all, you need to be sure that this is the real reason. You didn't give any examples of what you are talking about. But assuming that it is the reason, it could be that no one takes you seriously or that they are jealous. I don't know if there is any legal thing you can do unless it is blatant and you can prove it and it is really hindering your career. Everyone has strong points and weak points. Everyone has to work harder at some things than others. You have discovered something in your self that is a challenge. You have to learn how to handle this. If people aren't taking you seriously, you have to persevere and prove yourself. If people are jealous, you have to keep being yourself and keep being friendly and try not to react. Never let them see you sweat. Ever. Remember, the best revenge is success.

If it is based on being pretty only, then no. Is anyone saying something to you or do you just have a hang-up because you are pretty? Do you mean other girls are jealous? Sorry, age old problem with girls, but not a discrimination suit. Being Pretty is not on the discrimination list!

Yes, it is, but what can you do about it? I'm in the same situation and have to work really hard to prove myself and be extra-sweet to all the women while trying to keep the men at arm's length. Unfortunately we're all free to have an opinion of people based on appearance, and you complain that no one likes you b/c you're pretty, you'll sound like a b*tch even if it's the truth. Just do your best and eventually you will build up a reputation for being a good employee who also happens to be a hottie!

Well most of the time, pretty people are discriminated possitively (i.e. get special treament) hence have no reason to complain. If you're getting the opposite treament, you might wanna take a step back and re-think whether it's really your looks that's causing this or could there be something else that may the problem :-)

Yes, I believe you can be discriminated against because you are pretty..The key though is to not assume that it is because you are pretty that you are being discriminated against.... Are you a nice person, easy to get along with??? Do you respect your superiors??? i

I guess it could be.... it depends on how you're discriminated against. Your company should have some kind of manual that would spell it all out for you . You could read it and go from there.

It's not discrimination but pure envy and jealusy. But if it makes you feel uncomfortable then it is a work environment problem. You can't work well under stressul conditions caused by your own co-workers.
