Evolution due to natural genetic mutation is necessarily a long drawn-out process. If such a change is made artificially it may give a temporary advantage to the animal but ten to one the chances are that it may not be able to fall in step with this changed rhythm. Either the mutation will die out and more probably the animal itself will die.Constantly monitoring the transformation on the scale of geological time would both be impossi le, unnecessary and create unforeseen complications. Such mutations may be resorted to only on lowly life forms with limited life-cycle.
