There are free pop-up stoppers that either come as part of your web browser package or can be downloaded. Try putting "pop-up stopper" in your search engine & see what you come up with. You might also want to check out the major anti-virus websites for more information...they often have tools for not only antivirus, but anti-spyware, which is what a lot of those popups are.

If this is what I think it is then a pop-up blocker is NOT going to stop it. It depends on the situation.

If you only get the pop-ups when you are browing websites then a pop-up blocker in your browser will stop them.

If you are getting the pop-ups when you are not browsing websites then these are messages being sent using the Microsoft Messenger Service (Note - this is not the same as MSN messenger!).

Read this article and follow it's advise -

Stop going to adult websites, other things can be downloaded because of it. Download adaware form download.com and run once a week. Download Firefox it has a pop-up blocker built in..

You need to download and run a Spyware Remover and Antivirus program on your computer.

A pop-up blocker only takes care of the symptoms not the cause fo the problem. So you need to have these utilities installed and running on your computer alll the time to cure and prevent this problem.

have you tried running Microsoft Spy-Ware program. I recommend you do that. Before running the program you might want to clear out your Internet History, delete your cookies and clear out your temp folder which all of theses steps are located in your Internet Options. Once you have done that install Windows Defender from Microsoft.

Just click on that link there which will send you directly to there. You might want to make sure also you have the latest virus definitions also, and have the latest windows updates. I suggest you run the spy-ware program in safe mode since there isnt alot of processes running that are bind to any programs which will get rid of anything faster if it doesnt run in safe mode disable all the startup programs from your computer and run the program all over again and make sure your not connected to the internet so nothing tries to access the net as you run the programs.
