My boyfriends cell phone was recently stolen. It's in my name and I had it turned off immediately. A friend of ours gave us a cell phone to use. It's from the exact same carrier as ours. If I get the new phone activated with his number, will the stolen phone be allowed to call using the same number? Or can only the current phone activated be allowed to call?

(I hope this makes sense!)

once the new phone is activated the old phone can not be used you will probaly have to call your customer service line and have the phone activated and explain the sitiuation.

you should be able to use your friends old phone as long as it has not been associated with any other account for at least 30 days

iwork for a cell phone company

if you reported it stolen and had it turned off then No, they can't call out on it. All you need to do is go back to your carrier and ask them to switch the new phone to your old number. As long as it is on record in your name you should have no problems.

Hope you get things worked out!

Yes, you can use the same number on another phone and the stolen phone will no longer work.
