In the first election, Al Gore was tainted by Clinton sleeze. Plus, Gore said things that made people question his mental stability.

In the second election four years later, people were comfortable with Bush. John Kerry had developed the reputation of being a panderer and a flip-flopper. He was caught in lies about his service record and was on video saying our soldiers fighting in Vietnam were nothing more than war criminals. He ran an awful campaign.

That's why Bush's victory was bigger in 2004 than it was in 2000. Seven million more people voted for Bush the second time around.

I like to relate to the fact that the person who asked this question is a uneducated in the fact of what life is all about. I would like to thank Bush for a job well done. I didn't vote for him, but I knew if we let kerry win then we would be looking out our door with a bb gun. The democratics are trying to take our rights away to bear arms and that my friend is cowardly. Secondly the democrats wants to ok gays and that my friend is disgusting, sure the heck don't want my son knowing its ok to get done in the butt.

Sadly the president has to put up with dumb people over there and even dumber people over here. So again I am glad we have a real conservative man who believes in the right morals, and not what sickly people(sinful people) want.

I think the reason the people voted for him again which in my opinion was a mistake too, is because they thought his views would make a turn around Many of us believe that the only reason bush wanted this war to happen in the first place is because Suddahm Hussian started a fight with George Bush senior when he was office So partly why the war started was just for revenge on the president's part. But we will actually never know why the people voted for him again but in my view most voted for him thinking that This man got us in to this mess maybe if we vote for him again he will get us out of it!!

It is the job of the political party system to manipulate the media and therefore, the public into creating a consensus. Noam Chomsky calls it "Manufacturing Consensus." Quite simply, the public was made to feel afraid(and there are some real things out there to worry about); they were made to feel VERY afraid. They were also made to feel angry. Then quite simply the candidate in question was presented as the best man to solve the problems as defined, to restore order and prosperity, and to soothe the public into feeling peaceful and ok again. It's all about the spin.

An intelligent, moral candidate, no matter what his/her qualifications cannot win an election without manufacturing consensus among the registered voters of the land. He who spins his campaign the best wins. Sometimes a good man has good spin and gets in office. More often it appears that lesser men have better spin and thus win... it's difficult to stay enthusiastic about the political process given the nature of the process itself.

The real answer is that the religious right extremists and also regular Christians thought he would push their agenda. They wanted to see this Country with 1950-1960 values. Which many of these values would serve our Country well.

They were duped and don't want to admit it. I think most of them now realize how incompetent he is and the mess he has made of our image, our economy, and the biggest of all (killing of our soldiers in order the line the his pockets and pockets of oil cronies.).

If George Bush really believed in his 'Noble Cause' he would make sure his daughters were involved somehow somewhere versus keeping them hidden and protected.

Because he:

-Lowered taxes for everyone

-Gave prescription drug benefits to seniors

-Dealt well with unprecedented disasters that could have been prevented if prior adminstrations had dealt with them before they became major disasters. Such as 9/11, Hurricane Katrina (levies should have been repaired YEARS ago), Saddam Hussein, etc.

-Toppled the Taliban

-Ousted Saddam Hussein who, by the way, was seeking nukes from his buddy in North Korea.

-The first administration in decades to even ADDRESS the illegal immigrant crisis.

-Doesn't check to see which way the wind is blowing in order to make tough decisions. Also, doesn't hide from making tough decisions.

-Appointed more minorities to high positions in his cabinet than any other.

Because the ones that voted for him bothered to get up off their butts to actually vote. It's funny because the one's complaining about politics are sometimes the ones that didn't even vote.

Can't think of a more insightful question? If we all thought like you there would be no need for elections would there? I voted for him because I think he is the best man for the job, and still think so.

People trusted him and wanted some one they could rely on.Kerry changed his stand too often. Incidentally I donot think Bush is an idiot. He is shrewd politician and a strong leader who has the courage of conviction.

Who knows who voted for that arrogant fool, the hand maiden of his neo-con handlers? As Joseph Stalin so aptly put it so long ago " It doesn't matter who votes; only who counts the votes."
