I took astronomy in college and I'm an English major. I found it really fascinating. It combines all the sciences together and you get a little taste of each while learning about the workings of the universe. I took an entire sequence, one year, and found out that it was the only science I ever truly enjoyed. I thought that after taking it, I would lose my fascination with the night sky, but I actually found that it increased it. I found stars even more fascinating because I knew what was actually out there. Anyways, I highly suggest it as a science sequence. But don't think any science won't be involved or hard, you make a huge mistake if that's your goal because you won't find a science that is "easy."

I am a criminal justice major and I needed a science credit to complete my requirements. I took Astronomy last year and it was not only an easy class but an interesting one. See If you can find out who the professor is and what kind of teaching style he or she has. It is definitely a much better experience overall in any class you wish to take to know your professors before hand.

I would rate astronomy as slightly easier than physics and chemistry. I have degrees in both astronomy and physics, but not chemistry. As in any science, you will need a lot of math, unless you are just planning to take a class for non science majors as a general education requirement and not major in it, in which case no advanced math is used.

I took a class called Origins of Astronomy as a science requirement in college. The professor was great, and I thought it was really cool that one week was about astrology, and how to construct our own charts. Even if you don't believe in it, you can at least speak to the scientific foundation for it. Plus where else do you get a class where the hw assignment is to go look at a beautiful nighttime sky?
I'd say go for it.

It depends a lot about your school and teacher. I am an early childhood major and took astronomy, and i liked it. MY teacher used a lot of math equations in our class, but I liked them. Other schools are easier and some are harder. The best bet would be to take it at a community college where the credits will transfer to your major school.

Hi. I'm not a science/math person but choose astronomy in college for my science course. I had a wonderful teacher and found that it was fascinating and more memorization that calculations involved. I think it would be a good choice for you. Enjoy it.

The key is that astronomy has always interested you. A lot of times our interest in a particular subject is in direct proportion to our ease or difficulty with that subject. I strongly recommend you give it a try, you will not have a problem with it.

It's not that difficult. IMO, other sciences are more challenging. However, when you do labs for astronomy, it gets a little more complex.
But for the most part, Astronomy is awesome...it's enjoyable and very captivating- that has been my experience.
I encourage you to go for it!

Astrononmy (Check your Spelling) is only a difficult subject if you are not interested in learning about it.
It's been proven time and again that people who excel at any given subject are simply interested in that subject!
Astronomy is very involved, and much, much more than knowing your Zodiac! :)
