This is different for everybody. I notice most people are saying it's around 14 days after your period starts ... this is actually not the case for everybody. It depends on how long your cycles are. If you have a typical 28-day cycle, then yes, maybe around day 14 you ovulate, in which case you should be having sex in the days leading up to ovulation, and of course the day of and after. However, not all women have a "regular" cycle. Even some women who have that 28-day cycle ovulate either early or later. You need to learn to read your body's signs. When you're approaching your most fertile time, your body starts producing more cervical mucous (which you will notice either on your panties or when you wipe ... sorry if it's too much info!). You can also chart your waking temperature to help you figure out if you're one of those people who ovulate early or late (try checking out www.fertilityfriend.com). There's a great book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" that talks all about reading your fertile signs and taking advantage of them.

Until you can pinpoint when you actually ovulate, making sure you have sex every other day will cover the bases, so to speak. I hope it doesn't take you long to get pg! Best of luck to you!

This is from a fertility center web site (source below) :

The fallacy is that you must have intercourse on the day of ovulation in order to become pregnant. Nothing could be further from the truth. After intercourse, sperm can live for several days in the female reproductive tract. Studies show there is no significant difference in your chance for pregnancy whether you have intercourse on the day of ovulation or 1 to 2 days before ovulation.

However, the eggs (oocytes) don't remain viable for very long. Intercourse that occurs just one day after ovulation is associated with a very low chance for pregnancy.

In order to maximize your chance for pregnancy, subtract 14 days from your shortest cycle (for example, if your shortest cycle is 26 days, subtract 14 to get 12). This will likely be the earliest you ovulate. Start having intercourse a five days before and repeat every other day a couple of times.
It is okay to have intercourse every day if you wish but the pregnancy rates will not be any better than they would be if you had intercourse every other day and it can get stressful for some couples. Every other day if fine or even every third day."

Next is this from the New England Journal of Medicine:

"Among healthy women trying to conceive, nearly all pregnancies can be attributed to intercourse during a six-day period ending on the day of ovulation"

There are some great calculators out there and wonderful books that will tell you how to get to know YOUR body and determine its "best" time

Best of luck to you

Normally you ovulate 10-14 days after your period. Somewhere in the middle of your menstrual cycle. I say you can get pregnant any time of the month, if you and your man get off together. Most of all don't stress about getting pregnant, just enjoy the sex and alone time while you got it. Cause after you have a baby say goodbye to alone time.

Get a book on "natural family planning." I've included a link to Amazon.com that lists about -- well, it says there are 587 hits... Most of those will give you what you need to know in order to track your cycle. There are three or four things you can check, measure, and monitor to give you a good idea when you ovulate.

When we were tracking my wife's cycle this way, she found that it was a fairly consistent 14 days for her (your mileage may vary) from ovulation to the start of her next period; she kept a spreadsheet on her Mac, bless her heart. The problem was that for her, this could be anywhere from 10 to 20 days AFTER the start of her previous period; her cycles were anywhere from 25 to 35 days (averaging 33, I seem to recall). Made it difficult to predict ovulation because the most obvious sign, onset of menstruation, preceded the most variable time. So you really need to learn the other signs, such as cervical mucus and what my wife referred to as the "ping" -- the sensation of the follicle bursting and the egg being released. For her it was a very mild sensation, easy to miss if you weren't looking for it, but recognizable after a couple of months' tracking and knowing what to expect.

Five days before and five days after your period, you have virtually no chance of getting pregnant. Best chance is about the 3 or 4 days right in the middle, about 6 or 7 days after the end of a period and 6 or 7 days before the start of the next period.

Ovulation period is usually right in the middle of your cycle. 10-14 days after the previous cycle started.

Coo, to get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.

After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex.

After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.

Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 5 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.
