My friend is 20 (almost 21) and has a small baby, she lives in her dad's council house and pays him rent. She wants to go to college to study law, but doesn't know what she is entitled to due to her position. Any advice as to where she could go would be great.

Just wondering where she gets the money from to pay the rent with?
I know someone has just finished a 4-year degree course in art at the cost of the taxpayer. At least she waited to have the baby till after her studies. She had just produced her degree work and her baby is due in September.
Not really sure where your friend could go. But i think she should get her priorities right and i don't think that studying Law with a small baby and expecting to do it on handouts is the right thing to do. She can't afford to buy her own cake ... so she got no right to eat it!!!

Student law and a part time job - sorry I don't agree with taking from the Government - other people have worked to earn that money. Your friend really ought to take responsibility for herself - I don't mean any offence by that, but she would get more respect.

God not another young single mum hoping to live off hardworking taxpayers! When will it end?!! If it takes her 8 years to become a lawyer (in fairness at least she's trying) then that's 8 years of free dosh!

The Citizen's Advice Bureau would be a good place to start. They're really good there. Google it if you don't know the number. I don't know it off the top of my head. Good luck!
