My baby turned 11 months old today. He is long (or tall) for his age. I am tired of people saying that my son isn't much of a baby anymore just because of his length. He doesn't even sit up well yet. He does crawl. Never stood yet either. My daughter was big for her age too. Why do people say this?

Childcare facilities consider an infant a toddler at age 18months. That is the point that they transition from the infant class into the toddler class and the ratio of students to children is increased at that point. At 11 months, your son is still a baby. Give it time and enjoy these moments and milestones.

Don't let anyone tell you your baby isn't a baby. For me it's always been a gradual process. My youngest child just turned 2 and she's still a baby. She goes potty sometimes but she's not potty trained and wears a diaper, she can talk but can't carry a conversation. The world is still a big scary place when she's away from her momma and her thumb is her best buddy along with her ragged pink baby ragdoll. In the next year she'll potty train, speak in sentences, gain more independence from me by attending preschool and making her own friends. One day I'll look at her and not see a baby anymore. But I think it's different for every child. Some children no longer seem like babies at 2 while others are still babies at 4.

I think a baby is not a baby anymore when they start being a little independent like walking by themselves and stuff like that. I would say around the age of 15-16 months.

My boy is turning 1 yr old in 2 weeks time. He is considered tall for his age and lots of people mistakenly thinking that he is already 1.5 yr old. Ignore what others have to say about your baby, lengthy is not a problem. Most importantly, your baby is your baby still.

Usually when they are about 1 1/2 or 2 years old then they are toddlers but until then they are babies.

People like to judge based on size, because they really don't know the true age of you baby unless you tell them. I considered mine babies until they could walk on there own. Then I call them toddlers. But that's just how I always done things. ;)

Don't let people upset you, because no matter how old you baby gets, they'll Always be Your Baby.

Depends on the parent...For mothers, the child will always be a baby, no matter how old. However, physically I suppose 3 years old, after the terrible two's, and able to get into and out of mischief on their own.

Your baby is always going to be your baby, but technically he is no longer an infant when he starts walking. Then he is considered a toddler, around his age now.

your baby is still a baby no matter what other people think. my son is 14 months and he is still my baby. He isn't walking yet, and he is also big for his age, He drinks out of a sippy cup now, no bottles and I call him my big boy, but in my heart, he is my baby!
