The ref actually called a fair game. I am a ref so I would know. I agree the ref favored the USA a little but look at the last 20 minutes. Italy was on the attacking half the whole time.
This match was not determinded by the officials at all. I think the referee just followed the rules. All I saw was one offsides that the lineman missed right at the end (italy was off and he didn't call it). I personally think the referee did a good job.
Just keep in mind, these refs are all the best in the world, the best from each country. If they can't referee these games then I don't know who can.
Someone tell me what the reason was for the red cards (real reason not some crap reason like "the ref was stupid" and i missed the first part of the game). After playing 9 on 10 you would be tired too. It did look like it was keeper v. keeper playing tennis at sometimes. but then again I didn't see any of the red cards so I can't tell you what I think of them. I am a referee so I could tell you if it was the correct call or not.
That dis-allowed goal was a stupid mistake. I would expect someone playing at my age (U-14) to make that kind of mistake. Its was just plain stupid and I am shocked that someone talented enough to be in the world cup would make that kind of mistake.
Both teams played a hardcore game and based on what I saw I think the red cards were well warranted.

All of the red cards the players got were deserved. De Rossi got the red for elbowing McBride, and Mastroeni got a red for doing a two-footed tackle (according to FIFA this is an automatic red) on Pirlo. Pope's red was fine too he tackled the Italian from behind, and he'd gotten a yellowe before anyways. The offside goal callled on the Americans was fine because McBride was interfering with Buffon's vison, and that's not allowed. The Americans didn't suffer at the hands of the ref, the Italians suffered more. The ref disallowed a valid goal, he called several offsides that weren't supposed to be offsides, and he didn't award Italy a PK when Iaquinta's shirt was being pulled.

if bks titans is indeed a ref as he claims. then he will know that he should support all refs and not say "he was towards the usa".
no referee goes into the game with a biased opinion, and if he does he shouldn't be a referee in the first place.
