those saying goats eat anything clearly have NOT had goats!!
What are you doing with your goat? Breeding, show, pet, raising for meat ???
Hay should be CLEAN - no dust, mold, dirt, trash etc in it. breeding and show stock should get a clean grass hay with limited amounts of alfalfa. Keep it in a feeder...throwing it on the ground guarantees waste because a goat steps on it they usually won't eat it. If they get their feet in it they won't eat it. If someone else gets their feet in it they won't eat it. Goats are the PICKIEST eaters!! I've had hay they wouldn't touch and the horse ate it right up - nothing wrong with it but it touched the ground. Whatever you feed make sure it's CLEAN. If they don't like one thing try another. I've had best luck on a grass/alfalfa mix.

You don't really have to feed a goat any kind of hay. You don't even have to feed them hay! You can feed them grass, weeds, and even small flowers!
Good Luck!!!!!

Bermuda is mostly a good determination, as is clover and timothy hay. stay far off from fescue - there's a fungus that grows interior the stalks and could reason goats to bloat, die, or dry up in the event that they are milking. Alfalfa is a super hay in case you could desire to boost milk production or positioned weight on goats. it is likewise with ease bought in pellets of concerning the diameter of a pencil... i like to feed those pellets to my milkers and starting to be little ones. If alfalfa is fed to dollars, the calcium content textile desires to be balanced with grain (that's extreme in phosphorus). The extreme calcium isn't what motives urinary calculi, it is unquestionably an imbalance interior the calcium-to-phosphorus ratio. I unquestionably have had many dollars here and none of them have had UC, thankfully. besides... persist with a regular, sparkling good-high quality grass hay because of the fact the backside of their weight loss software and you could desire to be nice.

Any kind you want. Goats are the most un-picky and the most hardy animals I've ever dealt with.
