There was supposed to be.
Troy Duffy (the director and creator) had in his blog on the Boondock website that his new years resolution was to begin filming... Unfortunately, that was posted 2 yrs ago. It was never released in theatres as it was never filmed. I think the person above me is confusing the first film for a sequel. They yanked the original out of theatres with the whole school shootings and blaming the entertainment industry issue.
IMDB doesn't have him listed for any new projects, so it doesnt seem it will be happening any time in the near future.
A reason for it seemed to be explained in the documentary they did on the filming of the first film, "Overnight". It showed that Troy's not exactly the nicest guy to work with and had a lot of arguements with his production co.

curiously it rather is real. that they had a information tale on G4's "attack of the instruct" the different evening. On his web page, Troy Duffy blogged that he had chanced on the investment to do a sequel and become making plans to start capturing this summer season.

Nope, that was a rumor. It was re-released in the theater for ONE DAY only - I think that's where the confusion came from.
That's my all time favorite movie...
