See if you can read the local newspaper online, scour the want-ads for any job you're qualified for. Sometimes Barnes & Noble or Borders sells out of state newspapers as well - pick up a copy of the Sunday paper, or have someone mail you a copy. Send your resume to any place that you can. Also, monster.com and careerbuilder.com and places like that have listings too.

However, be prepared to get a lot of "call us when you move here." In which case, what I'm doing is having enough savings to cover six months of bills - rent, utilites, car, etc. and just doing it. My friends said it took them 2-3 months to get a job when they moved.

Good luck!!

Consider central Florida like Orlando or Tampa (there's tons of work in Orlando; but the pay is not what you would be used to in NJ. Of course the cost of living is less in Florida. Much less stressed and people are really nice, come check it out. I moved from Boston to Lakeland Fl. People are just too nice and since I love to grow things I'm in heaven.

Sure move to Miami if you don't value you life. You can hang out with gang bangers, drug runners, human smugglers and just psychopathic types in general. Should be a blast! But you are from NJ so you will probably not notice the mayhem!

One word: U-Haul. Seriously...start with checking the want ads for a job, an apt. and it would help if you had family or friends that already lived there. Next save some cash for the move. I would guess that you would need at least $1500 to $2000 to get everything set-up and have a little left over to live on until you can start drawing a check.

i love MIAMI too. just got back sunday! i live in michigan, so i feel your pain with the awful winters. Anyways, just do it. just move. look on monster, find a job that can be your transition job and once you are down there you will network like crazy. i was there for 3 days this past weekend and talked to tons of people and everytime i'm there i meet tons of good contacts for jobs/opportunitites. Schmooze, get business cards, keep in touch. Make the move to miami. best thing you could do!

I am so with you on this. I went to Miami Beach on a business trip this year and fell in love with the place. (And, LOL, I'm from NJ, too!) Keep trying. I am sure you will find something. Try looking up corporations that are headquartered in Miami vicinity and then just send out letters to their HR dept. with your qualifications. Good luck!

First, save up at least 3 months worth of living expenses, such as rent, utilities and food. I'd say $1500 per month would be cutting it close, but would be ok. Then just go down there and interview like CRAZY. Go out every morning until night time and hand out as many resumes as you can. That's what I did when I moved from MA to IL and it worked out fine for me.

how hard are you trying to find a job? If you really are serious, go on Monster.com and post a resume. Ans if you are REALLY serious, call the job service down there and talk to them about your interest in moving there and need a job first. Good luck!
