Just kidding, but I am curious:

This is reference to Human Sexuality. The question is driven from the current culture of "lifestyles" such as Open Marriages, bisexuality, bdsm, etc.

Which better defines who we are: Our fantasies that we never share and and my never act upon, or our acitons and deeds.

GREAT Answers: I posted this in another section as well, check out the takes in more general sexuality area

I am putting this to a vote. But, my thoughts are that fantasies can very well define who we are, but our actions certainly speak volumes as well.

If Spork dreams of public sex, but is bashful in public is she an exhibitionist to shy to show or an introvert that enjoys "dreaming outside the box"?

Gaydar hits that point home as well, with the BD/SM reference. She may like to dream of a firm caning but really only desires an occassional spanking.

Skye is right as well! Our concern with what others think is defined in the quote I included below.

Radagast may be right. If he acts straight but fantasizes about men, is he gay or straight? Or bi? or just curious

A wise man once told me:

You can best judge a person's character by what choices would be made if absolutely NOBODY would EVEREVER find out.

Again, thanks and don't forget to vote!

Our actions and deeds. Someone may fantasize about sex with people watching, but would never actually go through with it - that's why its called a fantasy. However, if you are referring to the fact that some homosexual/bisexuals/transgendered people are outwardly not what they appear, than I would say that what they feel on the inside is what defines them. Though if that is the case, their inner feelings wouldn't be fantasy.

Neither and both or ID our Ego and our Super Ego make us who we are. Our fantasies are our desires and are controlled by our knowledge about the outcomes of our actions. Based on this knowledge we either act or don't act on what our fantasies are. This truly has nothing to do with our current culture except to the extent that societies mores effect the outcome and our indoctrination of those mores. A persons sexual orientation is tied in to their ID it is part of who we are. It is not a defining part but it is part of our being. The Id is the part of our nature that relates to the pleasure principle. if it feels good we do it. If we have needs the Id seeks to fulfill those needs. The ego understands that in reality we have to constrain the Id because others have needs too. Our super Ego takes this one step further and realizes how society has rules and the super ego is part of the governing of our actions that realizes that there are repercussions to those actions.
What defines is not the fact that we have fantasies or even what those fantasies are but the fact that we know which ones we are able to act upon and which ones need to stay purely fantasy.

what defines us as human being as our actions and deeds and not something that in our head. i have fantasies about killing people that i hate (quite a few of them actually) but does that make me a killer? (came up with creative ways to 'kill' a person with years of 'experience'.....lol)
i do fantasize about soft BDSM but i dont think i can take anything more than a feather or a leather whip in real life.....lol
so i gues its our deeds that akes us who we are

Hmmm. that is a great question...You should get points for that one. I think it would be our fantasies because they are not guided by the thoughts of "what will people think of me". They are our innermost thoughts, impulses we don't act upon, simply our secrets.

I am defined by the person I have become. What I do is my business. Judgement is the problem with this world.

Our actions and deeds form who we are. We all have things we want to do from time to time because curiousity. But who we really are shoes in what we do with our lives.

Our fantasies -- they represent what we really are.

I'm not sure if that helps you -- but it is certainly true.

I choose to make them one -- but not everyone does.
