yes it was Sir Stanley Matthews in 1965 when he was 50 yrs old he was born on the 1st February 1915 but he started playing for stoke city fc in 1932 aged 17 made his English debut in 1934 in 1956 he was the 1st ever European footballer of the year his final English game was in 1957 he rejoined stoke city in 1961 aged 46 and went on until February 6th 1965 which was five days after his 50th birthday in 1992 he was given the fifa gold merit order he died in 2000 aged 85

Do you know that the year is 2006!!! Every Hard-working person now a days is entitled to call himself/herself a Knight if that makes them happy.

I'll bet you David Beckham will eventually be Knighted because the title MEANS NOTHING more than pompous ceremony.
