They are not protecting our country half a world away. They are engaged in a police action in the Middle East because they were sent there.
I lost a nephew there. After his funeral, my sister said, "This isn't about Jason being a war hero, This is about President Bush getting to have his war."
That pretty much sums up how my entire family feels about this war.
We need teachers in the classrooms of the schools in this country. We are cutting back on teachers in the classrooms. We need economic development in most of the states of this country. We need the people who are serving in Iraq to be fixing bridges and roads in this country. We need the people who are serving in Iraq to be working in hospitals and fixing water treatment plants here in the United States.
But they aren't. Because President Bush believed that Iraq was a problem, we all incurred a huge debt by going to Iraq.
It has cost us over 600 billion dollars to be that wrong. Not only was he wrong, he is too expensive to humor.
I would suggest that the American people are also to blame. It is one thing that we all went to the polls and voted for him the first time, but we knew that the War in Iraq was a sham and that it was too expensive when he came up for his second term and we voted for him again. So that is our fault.
I agree with you, and you have a point to be concerned. This is too expensive in both the cost of lives and the cost of money, but it also is expensive in the cost of American credibility all over the world.

The sad part about it is that the 9-11 attacks could have been prevented if Bill Clinton would have taken that cigar out of Monica. They knew about it and did nothing. And No our troops are fighting for Iraq's freedom. I Iraq becomes a free country they will support our oil industry.

World War ll is i think the only war in history when it was proved to be as justified at the end as it was at the start. However I do see where you are coming from. Our Country has long and proud history of accepting those trying to escape injustice and persecution and for many years out wise aand noble government led us rightly or wrongly along that path the altenative was that they were coming here to university and would return to their own emerging countries. Again the government led us to believe this for a long time. them political correctness came in and it took a fairly brave person to query this especialy as thaey had no way of checking the figures given out in a completely dishonest way by succesive governments. The results of this we now have a divided multi-cultural society which has been foisted on us by deceit. We did not vote for it. We are now landed with a problem of total mistrust of our beloved and wise leaders and a certain party B.N.P is using this to it's advantage by street capaigns which target the problems of say one particular street which will have different problem to perhaps the next street which is also targeted in the same way. This leads people to believe that B.N.P is speaking for them, but actually causes more and more distrust within already divided communities. So the answer is that your father did fight for something worthwhile and secured it for the likes of you aand me as do the servicemen and women of to-day. However they are constantly let down by the government and the white population who on the whole are happy to accept a few foreigners in their midst if only to add some spice to life have been betrayed. and now have something if they had been allowed to have their say would have wisely rejected insstictively realising the tensions it would bring

You have a really good point and I can't debate that. But we are in the war and I'm all for it. I want the US to win the war, but the sooner the better and the least amout of people killed the better. I think that the war was good for other countries because if we had just protected the US, our allies could have been attacked instead of US and people still die.

It seems that you have not served the country yet. It doesn't matter if it's half a world away. Defending the US hasn't always be easy. When you defend what you most love, sometimes you got to get up close and personal. Get it ? I know that have made the ultimate sacrifice.. What's your excuse ? I did my time ( 13 years ) and was wounded to the point that I was not able to continue to serve.

I'm sorry you can't use your brain well enough to understand the threats to our freedoms are coming from the middle east.
How free do you think you'd be with gasoline at $10 a gallon? How free do you think you'd be if a terrorist was able to explode a bio weapon in your city? Islamo-Facists want you dead, PAL, and would have no hesitation in slicing your head off. THEY are your enemy, not Dick Cheney.
Don't you realize how your freedoms were affected when the towers came down? HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN?
