OK, if it is in his name, and your not married, it's his responsibility, not yours. You shouldn't be held responsible for someone Else's phone bill.

Let me get this straight, you're being charged for somebody elses phone bill whom you've never met? You didn't call this person long distance, right? If this is the case, then the phone company has errored and you shouldn't be charged.

I would speak with the phone company first and if you get no resolution with them, take it up a notch. Next contact the FCC and explain the situation to them. It'll usually take them about two months to resolve the issue, but they'll get results.

You need to determine if this person used your address or tried to steal your identity. Let the phone company know that you do not know this person and are pursuing litigation. Find an attorney who has their first visit offered as a free consultation and see if anyone will take the case. It probably depends on the amount of the phone bill.

If it's his phone, and his bill, and in his name, you have nothing to do with it. Let the phone company worry about it.
