The earth rotates 1 on its axis every 24 hours. Hipparchus proposed dividing the day equally into 24 hours which came to be known as equinoctial hours (because they are based on 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness on the days of the Equinoxes). Ordinary people continued to use seasonally varying hours for a long time. Only with the advent of mechanical clocks in Europe in the 14th Century, did the system we use today become common place

I think because of zodiac signs. And another reason is that 12 hours a day and 12 hours at night, so total 24 hours.

It is because the Earth takes about 24 hours to totally revolve on it's axis. Like when you take a globe and spin it around. When the part of the world you live on is dark you are facing away from the sun. When it is light you are facing the sun.

The same principle goes for why a year is 365 days. That is the time it takes for the Earth to revolve around the sun. The shape of the rotation is an elipse so when we are at the point farthest from the sun it is winter and the point closest to the sun it is summer.

Simple, we have 24 hours becouse when we created the time zones, we made 24 different zones. So when the sun completed a trip and reached the 24th zone, it would start a new day. We created 24 zones useing longetude. It's simply mathatical caculation and old science to prevent confusuion. 24 was also determined becouse thats how long it takes for the earth to complete a full day revelution. (24.15 hours actually) but thats seconds off the day.

The Planetary Hours are an ancient system in which one of the seven traditional naked eye planets is given rulership over each day and various parts of the day. Monday is always the Day of the Moon. Tuesday is the day of Mars, Wednesday is ruled by Mercury, Thursday is Jupiter's day, Friday is the day of Venus, Saturday is the day of Saturn, and Sunday is the day of the Sun.

Each planetary day begins at sunrise, and ends at the next day's sunrise. For example, Sunrise on Saturday is the beginning of the day of Saturn. Before sunrise on Saturday, you are still under the day of Venus.

The day is divided into two parts; the day (time between sunrise and sunset) and the night (time between sunset and tomorrow's sunrise). Each part of the day is then divided into 12 equal parts, for a total of 24 (unequal) hours.

The first planetary hour of the day is always the same as the planetary day; so sunrise on Monday is the beginning of both the day of the Moon and the hour of the Moon. The hours repeat infinitely in this order:

*Saturn
*Jupiter
*Mars
*Sun
*Venus
*Mercury
*Moon

So the second planetary hour of the day of the Moon is the hour of Saturn, the third would be the hour of Jupiter, and so on.

God called the gentle day and the darkness he called night. And there became night and there became morning, a accepted day. Genesis a million:5 Going from scriptural evidence it feels like one 24 hour era. even although the scriptures do no longer qualify in the event that they are consecutive days. There could have been seven 24 hour days of introduction unfold over hundreds of thousands of years we basically do no longer comprehend and whats greater, it is no longer significant to the message of the Bible.

so thay we can continue on daylight savings time and be in tact with the rest of the world, otherwise our days would turn to nights, airflights would be confusing, news would be a day old, etc.
