We had Republican rule for about 6 years and very strong Republican rule in the last 4, my question is why anybody still likes them despite the mess congress and this president has done.
Can anyone tell me why they are satisfied with the current government? And please use good reasons on actual stuff the government did, like invade Iraq and not opinions like our President is brilliant.

-Lowered taxes

-Gave prescription drug benefits to seniors

-Dealt well with unprecedented disasters that could have been prevented if prior adminstrations had dealt with them before they became major disasters. Such as 9/11, Hurricane Katrina (levies should have been repaired YEARS ago), Saddam Hussein, etc.

-Toppled the Taliban

-Ousted Saddam Hussein who, by the way, was seeking nukes from his buddy in North Korea.

-The first administration in decades to even ADDRESS the illegal immigrant crisis.

-Doesn't check to see which way the wind is blowing in order to make tough decisions. Also, doesn't hide from making tough decisions.

-Appointed more minorities to high positions in his cabinet than any other.

Whew! I'm tired!

Well, at least now you include Congress, glad you are finally educating a little bit, not much though, Our government (congress and senate ) are made up of Republicans and Democrats alike. Why don't you go and educate people on Dog Training and leave politics alone for a while. You have the Internet right there at you fingertips, use it to inform yourself about how our government actually function. It's no wonder, other countries call us stupid, uninformed Americans. It's because people like you want to sit back and complain about things like loss of freedom of all things, you must be pretty sheltered not to realize how good you have it here. But remember the good thing about our borders are they work both ways, and unlike other countries, nobody is keeping you here if you are so miserable.

Another liberal with diarrhea of the mouth, using Yahoo Answers as a platform to throw rocks at the President. I could give you a whole slew of facts and all kinds of information, but your kind are so anti-truth and anti-factual information, so why bother?

And if you believe that only 36% of this country is behind the President, then you should quit your job at the New York Times and get out to meet real Americans.

Ah...I see the flaw in your premise. If we are "rule"d by our elected officials, Democrat or Republican, then will it matter who sits in the Oval Office or the Captitol? That's where you need to change your attitude. It's not a matter of "what do I get if my party's in power?", it's a matter of "what does America get?" WE THE PEOPLE...not We the Democrats or We the Republicans. I'm not going to anwer your question the way you want because you won't listen anyway. But, if you think the Democratic heroes will come riding in on their white horses to punish the evil Republicans in 2006 and 2008, then think again. When everyone's taxes go up (not just the rich), when we are unsafe at our borders, when we are open again to terrorist attacks because of your assinine "let's get them back for Bush" whiplash attacks, then I guess we'll all be a lot better off. Thanks in advance for nothing.

I am satisfied that the current administration has screwed up the country. Those 36% of people that still support the president are the die-hard Republicans and they will support him til the end, even though they might not even be around til then, because this administration has screwed up so bad.

Like Dan said, anyone who still backs the Bush family is either in the oil business, or some other large corporation. What skrikes me as odd is how corrupt the current administration is, and why no one wants to, seemingly, get to the bottom of all the wrong doing! As an American citizen, I can't think of a worse admin. than the current one!

Every President and administration have their good and bad points. Our current President (love him or hate him) has had a lot of disasters to deal with during his terms; 9-11, Hurricane Katrina, Iraq war etc... People blamed Bush for the attacks of 9-11, but no one wants to look back at Clinton pulling/cutting funding for the military and homeland security. When Bush decided to go to Iraq he was given inaccurate information by the CIA and military, about weapons of mass distruction, but no matter what, Iraq had a leader that was committing mass genocide within his own country. Now those same people are screaming for us to do something about Defur. We blame Bush for Katrina, yet how did he create a hurricane. Is FEMA in need of a massive overhaul? YES, but FEMA has operated for years as is and no other President has had this type of massive natural disaster to have to deal with, but because it has happened while Bush is in office it is his fault. Our President has had a lot of tradgedies to deal with during his terms and all he ever gets is critcism for things that are out of his control. He was blamed for the recession and yet we were in the begining stages of recession when Clinton was ending his term. Shortly after 9-11 happened and people were scared and we caused our own finacial troubles by refusing to spend money, by companies downsizing, by causing a panic with the stock market. This country needs to realize that all of our problems cannot be blamed on one man or on one administration. Clinton was not a perfect President, but even he skated by after committing perjury. He is a criminal and yet no one thinks that lying to a grand jury is a bad thing. Makes me wonder where our morals lie.

i hope you consider the whole congress a mess, not just the majority, because it is a slight majority. you din't mention the denocrat senator caught on video taking cash bribes, or the democrat mayor from conn. who just admitted (after the fbi uncovered it) using coke in office. i am not saying any politician is an angel, or one side is more, but there is no point in arguing about which side is more currupt. if you are going to suggest kicking out who is "ruling", you have to throw out both sides.

Thank You Deltaqueen!!! The problem with us is that we don't know anything about what life is ANYWHERE else. The general public have NEVER HAD to worry about any freedoms. We also go to other countries and ruin their land for THEIR resources so we can have and have...... We don't drill for oil nor do we demand for alternative energy sources......we just complain.
