Behold a couple of contradicting sources regarding which is the smallest microbat. But here at least you'll see the range of microbats is from wingspan of 5 inches to wingspan of 40 inches.
1. The smallest microbat, Pipistrellus nanus of Central Africa, is only 4 cm (1.5 in) long, has a wingspan of only 12.5 cm (about 5 in), and weighs less than 4 g (0.14 oz), making it one of the tiniest of mammals. Many species of megabats are smaller than the largest microbats, however, the distinction between the suborders being based on tooth form and major skeletal differences rather than size alone.
2. [T]he smallest is probably the Philippine bamboo bat, Tylonycteris pachypus, its forearm measuring only 22mm. and weighing only 0.05 ounce. The largest Microbat is the tropical American false vampire, Vampyrum spectrum, with a wingspan of up to 40 inches.
