My first child I was induced and he was nine hours from start to finish, my second was natural and she was here in five, three of hard labor, and I was just induced again with my third on the 15th and he was nine hours from start to finish as well. Although the time varies, I would definitely say that my second was easier then my first and my third was easier then the second.
My sister on the other hand just delivered her first in March and only had a total of two hours of labor and only twenty minutes of that was hard labor ( I hate her too LOL).

I was ten hours with my first and all the pain was forgotten the second I saw her face. My second I went into labor the day the berlin wall was knocked down which would have been the 9th November 89 and gave birth to her on the 11th which is Armistice Day (sp), no labor in between and my husband missed the birth of 1 hour labor by seconds.
My 3rd 4 were both about 4 hours long.
My 5th child there was NO labor but I felt as if I was in labor for a week afterwards as my body went into shock (DIY birth)
My 6 child I went into labor at 4 am but wanted a bath so had that then saw some washing up to do so did that then went back to sleep for an hour, then when I got up I thought we'd have time to get others to school before I went to the hospital. In the ten minutes he was gone I had my daughter alone (DIY)
My 7th child I slept all through the labor and woke up seconds before the birth-again went into shock and was admitted a month later very ill. He was my last! Lol!

I have an exceedingly high pain tolerence and when had freak accidents that has caused pain, i faint so it's like an auto shut off I suppose to prevent me going through the pain, but always been able to sleep through pain

My first labor was right at 24 hours. Not all of it was hard labor , the first 8 was pretty mild and the last 8 I had an epiderul and didn't feel it ,pushing was just 20 minutes.
The second labor was 4 1/2 hours , it was much worse because it came faster , I hyperventilated and vomitted. Hard labor was 3 1/2 hours and then an epidural , 15 minutes of pushing . I went from 3cm -8cm in 30 minutes and from 8 cm to 10 and crowning in 10 minutes.

It's true that every labor is different and usually second, third labors are shorts but not always. I have four children and my labors were 38.5 hours, 1 hr 42 min, 3.5 hours, and 7 hours. However, my middle two were inductions and my first and fourth were not so for a natural labor they are probably more in line with what you'd expect.

i woke up at 12 am and i had my daughter a 7:43am...not to long for a first child. but they all vary. my friend has two children. the first she was only in labor for 7 hours, but the second she was in labor 13...though she said the contractions were smoother with the 2nd one, because sometimes when you have a fast labor like i did the contractions come one after another real fast like mine, wich can get real old. this went on for a couple hours, i never really had the every three minutes thing, it was more like every two, then every one minute....the entire labor. though i would do it again in a heart beat.

well, I was in labor for days...but it was more like pre-labor. Then when I actually went in to be admitted I had finally reached 5 cm...I had the epidural at like 11:30PM and slept until 4:30AM...they broke my water and I was in labor (the pushing part!) from about 5:30 till 6:31 when she was born...I've heard the second is easier because the body has already been through it once...less stretching necessary and less chance of tearing, etc...I hope so!

I've only had one baby but I was in labor for 32 hours. After 19 hours I finally gave in and asked for the epidural. But I eventually had to have a C-Section. Sucks huh? After all that. So next time I'll just automatically have another C-Section. Not sure how that will change things.

My water broke around 8 in the morning with my first child and had him around 5 in the afternoon. He didn't seem to want to come out. They gave me an epidural with him. Now my second and third children were "text book" deliveries. My water broke around 4 in the morning, 15 minutes later my daughter was born and then the same with my third, a son. With both of them, I was in labor for about four hours. I didn't have any drugs with the second or third, but that first one was tough!!

With my first I was in labor for 6 hours and he was out no problem. With my second, he decided he didn't want to come out, so I got induced and it was 12 hours long, it was pretty bad until I got an epidural and then the last couple hours lfew by.
good luck!

My first was 18 hours of hard labor, that does not count the beginning when early contractions started.

With my 2nd, I woke up at 2 AM in hard labor, had no early labor at all! I had her at 8 AM. 6 hours total : )
