Which OS? If you are running XP can you get into safe mode? Press F8 right after start up and select safe mode. If you are able to run in safe mode there is something starting when XP is running in standard mode. If that is the case I would try a system restore if you have had that enabled. While in safe mode from the start menu click programs, accessories, system tools, system restore. Select a date before the problem started. Good Luck

Man...if you have to reinstall the OS every three weeks, you might as well reformat your entire hard drive. Try running your PC under SafeMode by pressing F8 during the reboot process. Re-run your virus scanner, spyware detector, the whole works. If it comes up with nothing, go to:

Start > Run > type 'MSCONFIG' to see what programs and/or windows extensions that are running when you start up windows. Look for anything that you think shouldn't be there. Hell play around with the Services tab or Startup tab.

Does your PC also freeze sometimes ????

Did you overclock your processor speed ( or someone else did ) ???
( OVERCLOCKING is to change the clock frequency of the processor & set it to higher value. )

Chances are that your processor overheats and thats why the PC restarts on its own. ( Overclocking raises your processor temperature )

You can see the temperature of your processor in the CMOS setup, under PC HEALTH. ( If your motherboard has S.M.A.R.T. technology )

Check whether your CPU fan is running at its max. speed.
If not replace it.

Clean the heatsink that sits on the processor. Apply thermal paste on the processor for efficient heat conduction between processor & heatsink.

Now if you find that, the above is not true & your processor is running fine, then the cause maybe your powersupply. It might not be giving a perfect stable output. Replace It.

Well u should try reparing the computer by the windows cd u put it u boost from cd and repair. windows might work enough for u to check ur whole computer, download as many anti-spywares and anti-viruses as u can from another computer, they might help. if not then there is no other chioce than formatting ur computer.

if it happens everytime u totally format and install the whole os again, then it has to be a hardware incompatibility.

before changin ur hardware you could try a low level format, but im almost sure it wont help.

and finally, its probably ur rams, u should change ur rams, borrow them from a friend and try the new ones, see what happens.

hope this helps
