Omaha has quite a bit to do, along with that there are a number of activities within 40 miles of the city that might be worth the trip too. Southwest on I-80 near the Platte River is the Strategic Air and Space Museum, a nationally renowned aerospace museum. Mahoney State Park (which offers hiking trails, a big pool and a lodge restaurant) is also nearby. In Omaha proper the biggest thing people usually want to is go to the Henry Doorly Zoo. Its a great place to visit and takes a better part of a day to go through. The zoo offers the Lied Jungle exhibit (a massive indoor jungle exhibiting different animals) along with the "Desert dome" and numerous other animal exhibits throughout the zoo. An IMAX theater is also located there. If there is only one thing you could see in Omaha, I'd see the zoo. Besides that, depending on the season, you might be able to watch an Omaha Royals AAA game at nearby Roosenblatt Stadium. Otherwise the Old Market has a lot to do with small specialty shops and cafes, a good place just to walk around. The Durham Western Heritage Museum is just south of downtown as well. The Joseyln Art Museum is west of downtown and offers an expansive collection of all sorts of art. A very nice art gallery. Across the city there are numerous shopping districts to visit including Crossroads (72nd and Dodge), Westroads (I-680 and Dodge, usually considered to be the better mall) Oakview on 144th and Center and finally Village Pointe (a bit more upscale shopping way out on West Dodge near Elkhorn). Google some of the place names for better information. An interesting shopping place to visit is Nebraska Furniture Mart near 72nd and Dodge. Its a massive facility which has everything from furniture, decor, electronics, movies and even a Burger King inside. If you're old enough or interested at all, Council Bluffs across the river offers three casinos, one of which has a dog track. If you're coming in on I-80 across Iowa, the Mall of the Bluffs is near the interstate which is a fairly nice mall as well. If you google "Visit Omaha" there are many more museums and interesting places to visit in the city. Enjoy your stay in Nebraska if you decide to come.

There's an air and space museum at Gretna which is a nearby suburb of Omaha and a candy shop that makes the best Meltaways in the world at Greenwood. Also the Zoo nad the I-Max theater are awesome. If you do a search for Omaha on Google that give you an additional list of what is fun to do in Omaha. They have an Opera and a couple of dinner theaters if thats your thing and thats things there to do for people of all ages.
