a stereotype that if you live in a trailer you are worthless and a piece of trash . there are trailers parks everywhere were that is the case but not always . nowadays trailers are built just like a house and could be very expensive so the term is slowly fading away

Because ignorance breeds stereotypes.
People often equate destitution with a lack of class or dignity. Just because someone lives in a trailer and/or cannot afford nice cars, clothes, etc. does not mean they are "trash." I take real offense to people being called "trash" or "vegetables."
My personal motto has always been to never judge someone based on where they live or what they drive. Maybe it's because a lot of the people who work for me are pretty poor, and I have gotten to know them as people, not as poor people.
And no, I don't live in a trailer.

because people who could not even afford a cheap apartment had to move into broken down trailers that were on their way to the dump ( the trash ) but slum land lords kept them in service for cheap rents and there you have it.
the trailer were going to be thrown in the trash and people are now living in them, so they because trailer trash...and the icon stuck on them
and still today ..people are called trailer trash and it all started that way.
good luck
and
God Bless
PS: your new pic looks marvelous ! !

trash as in people who have few morals, little money, and no self dicipline, who live in trailers in a trailer park, of course just a stereotype.

trailers are cheaper than single family homes and the term has a nice alliteration.

trailer parks of course. They are not stereotyped...I have personally known hundreds of them. I for example know a mother and a daughtr married to two brothers. Daughter married to the older brother and mother is older than their mother-in-law!

Because the idea is that inbred hillbilly hicks live in trailers, as they can't afford a house or an apartment. (Or shoes or dental care, for that matter)

i figure the term came from observing the appearance of trailer parks....
mobile homes do not have much for storage space so people wind up putting stuff in the yard..... weeds grow all around.... it is unkept.... rusting broken down cars in the yard.... trashy lookin home....
