wrote word document, transferred it to a custom made access program and saved it. When I went to access program the next day, document was gone. What can I do?

If your system crashed or you closed out a file before you could save it, the only way I know if to retrieve it is if you did that in Word. Word keeps a copy of the doc for cases like that, when you restart word, it will ask you if you want to restore last file

Use Windows Explorer to look for the file by stepping through the folders.
Right click on the Start button and click on Explore.
Also use the Search for files of folders.
My guess is that the File, Open is not showing the correct file type.
