The best time to travel to New York is in the autumn, around October. Since it is considered an "off season" hotel rates are cheaper & of course, it is less crowded with tourists.
If you go in the middle of spring the weather can be rather unpredictable with very cool mornings but hot afternons. If you go during the summer the smells can be overwhelming---especially the fish markets.

I would have loved to go during the winter, but it is so expensive that time of year!

The best time to go to New York is now. It is beautiful and you can get to witness the most activities at this time.
Hey, depending on which day you come, you just might hit upon a parade in the progress.
A nice carriage ride or a bike tour at Central Park is really nice.
The Metropolitan Museum is nice to visit, and, they always have some type of concert on the Great Lawn or at some other vendor.
I would go now.

For a tourist, I'd say sometime in October, before it gets too cold. New York is oppressively hot in the summer. I have friends who want to come visit, but I told them to hold off until the fall. It's more enjoyable when you're not drenched in sweat. Also, it can get a bit smelly when it's hot.

Early Autumn. The winter is too cold, the summer is too hot, and spring ends too early. Autumn is the best time. Around Mid-September to late October.

Never, I live here! Just kidding.....The island is great in the summer...watch out for deer ticks.....you don't want to be in the city in summer, unless you want to die from "stench" and "heat"...Night time is great though.....

I would say the best time to visit New York is October and Christmas.

In the fall or spring that way the humidity is not as bad. Although two years ago when I went there for New Years Eve, it was in the 70s.

Certainly the fall...Late september or early October. The weather is just right, and it's not during any holiday season.
