It has to be Lukas Podolski, as much as i don't want the Germans to win World Cup 2006.
He has made a brilliant performance, and has been much better player than Messi and definitely Rooney without a doubt. He deserves miles off than any of the others. The team can rely on him to be a striker, he ain't going to have temper tantrums like Rooney. He will score goals in many more years to come.
Messi? he is very young and has made a great breakthrough even tho he is only 19 now he hasn't had much international caps as Rooney or Podolski, but his time will come.

hmm sorry did you say cristiano ronaldo is younger than rooney?
of all those three above...messi is the youngest, ronaldo is the oldest, while rooney in between two of them...!! and I think rooney is yet to show anything in the world cup but I still think he's a great player. At this point I would have to go with messi, after a long injury time that he's had..look at the way he played against the serbia&montenegro looks like he hasn't got any injury before!! oops and one more name you guys forgot..its torress...he already got 3 goals!!

Podolski because Rooney lacks of self control in his temper, Messi plays minutes. Podolski has done a great job scoring, given assistance for goals, defending, capturing balls, etc.

Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal- a great playmaker + goal scorer.Rooney can't keep his temper in control.Messi is good but Argentina are out,Podolski=maybe, so it's Cristiano Ronaldo all the way.!!!!
