Yeah, I agree with spook.
To all of you whose answers are along the lines of "pride" and "showing off", does that mean that it's ok for me to walk around with my tadger out with the reasoning that I'm proud of it and want everyone to know I've got one? NO, because nobody wants to see that sh!t NOR DO THEY CARE.

Ok I agree that there are some things you just shouldn't wear when you are pregnant. A belly shirt is definately one of them. Still I am six months pregnant now, and it's so damn hot outside I can see why some women don't care. It really is hard to find something you fit in thats not going to make you drown yourself in sweat cuz its like 90 degrees outside.
Times have changed I guess. Pregnancy is not as personal of a thing as it used to be (which I don't think it ever was cuz a huge tummy is really hard to hide unless you put a potato sack over your body and stay indoors all the time) It's the year 2006. 14 year olds are flaunting about with thier boobs sticking out and thier butts shoved into tight jeans, and unfortunately these 14 year olds are a lot of the pregnant women you see. It's sad, but true. Older women seem to have more respect for themselves during pregnancy.

"bloated guts"
Obviously a "new man" who is in touch with his sensitive side!
My wife is a stunner. Great figure, great dress sense, and a cheeky little belly button piercing.
Each time she has been pregnant she has happily worn tops which ride up over the bump, and you know what...I think it is brilliant, because whats going on in there is my little person and i'm proud of that.
Also women get incredibly uncomfortable during pregancy, particularly if its hot so why should they wear a layer of elastic and lycra around their bump just so as not to offend you?
Times have changed, lets move on!!

I sorta understand why they do it. They are proud to be pregnant. And the stretch marks are all pregnancy - not fat! had loads when I was preggers. I didn't flaunt them, but I didn't hide then either. Why should? My son's the best things I ever made!! I'm proud of it. Now I know The stretch marks are not attractive to look at, but hey - it's all part of being pregnant(some people don't get them)

At least we have strech marks 4 a reason, and we dont all get them neway...
And one more thing - It is summer, therefore some women may choose to get some air to the bump! Whats wrong with that??

You try being 9 months pregnant and not being able to fit into anything! Pregnant people just want to be comfortable also, and maternity clothes aren't cheap. If you wear too tight of clothing you run risk for hurting your baby. Loosen up and try and be a little more sympathetic. I am sure every woman who is pregnant wishes that they could just go out and buy cute maternity clothes so they don't have to look like crap in public but that isn't always the case.......................

I think the fashion trend today with maternity wear is sickening. Pregnancy is a very personal thing (I think) between you, your husband and your unborn baby). It makes me sick to see pregnant women "flaunting" their bellies in bikinis, crop tops, low-rise jeans, and a host of other items of clothing that I don't think any self-respecting pregnant woman has any business wearing. save all that stuff for the young adult girls who have the bodys to wear it! You're soon going to be someone's mommy...friggin act like it and stop trying to be a teenager!

You know, people either think its sexy or they just dont. I really think that is how people are. I have been pregnant twice and I havent walked around with my stomach hanging out. I dont really think it looks that attractive and thats just me! But other people do. Some guys like it or they dont too. I am very excited to be a mother again... and not ashamed... I am just one of those people that think its not sexy. But I really dont think anyone no matter what should have stuff hanging out either. Even if guys think its pretty!

It's not just mothers to be - what about all those young things who should be toned and beautiful - instead they're wearing jeans too small for them and letting their revolting saggy stomachs flop out all over the place. They haven't even got the excuse of having been pregnant!!
Put it away unless it's pretty!
(I've got no problem with seeing pregnant tummies - it's the fat sla*s that repulse me!)

No, they didn't, and I don't care for it either. To the others who answered that they can't afford maternity clothes--how are you affording a baby? I am sad to say that my daughter does this--and she has maternity clothes that cover. She says that she doesn't like them! She thinks they are ugly, so she will put on a T shirt that is ridiculously small and wear that! I keep telling her that no one wants to see that, but she continues. I can't stand to be out in public with her dressed like that! Makes her look poor, cheap and without any sense! I think they should be proud of themselves in the privacy of their own homes--I'd rather not have to see it.
