The Italian Renaissance, The expansion of England to become Britain. The Wars between France and England (very bloody) English Civil War of1688 . The French Revolution of 1789 prob the most important changing monarchic states into national empires. The Napoleonic Wars around 1800 were on a scale greater than WW1The Franco-Prussian War in 1871 WWI and then of course the two world wars. But between the World Wars was the Russian Civil War betwen Whites and Reds which cost as many lives as WW1, the Armenian Genocide of 1923 is massive but overlooked, the Spanish Civil War. The Influenza epidemic which killed more people in Europe than WW1. The spread of Communism into establishing The Eastern Block, the attempted rising by Czechoslovakia against the USSR. The establishment of the EEC(European Economic Union) the fall of communism in 1989. The consolidation of Europe into The European Union under one currency and a central beaurocracy. The Balkans conflict of the 1990's.
Yea we have a slightly colouful history alright. How could you NOT find anything?

Certainly the Glorious Revolution In England in 1688 established the constitutional monarchy they use today. The French Revolution of 1789 inspired the downfall of the old monarchical governments around the Europe. The Franco-Prussian War in 1871 which set the stage for WWI and then of course the two world wars: WWI 1914-1918 and WWII 1939-1945. One could argue the fall of communism in 1989 as well. I'm sure there are others.
