The first mention of disappearances in the area was made in 1951 by E.V.W. Jones as a sidebar on the Associated Press wire service regarding recent ship losses. Jones' article notes the "mysterious disappearances" of ships, airplanes and small boats in the region, and ascribes it the name "The Devil's Triangle". It was next mentioned in 1952 in a Fate Magazine article by George X. Sand, who outlined several "strange marine disappearances". The term "Bermuda Triangle" was popularized by Vincent Gaddis in an August 1964 Argosy feature.

I agree with Seeker. All this people here claiming methane bubbles are the responsible forgot that the Bermuda Triangle is very famous for taking down boats as well as PLANES. I have traveled from the Unites States to Puerto Rico many times (crossing the triangle each time) and I'm still alive. It's all BS, in my opinion.

there has never been a clear explanation for the bermuda triangle. mysteriously it has more sunken and missing ships than any other place in the world. The stories of planes and ships sinking has derived from hundreds of years ago when pirates sailed the carribean. As the years passed on the legend of ships disappearing continued to be told while the number of pirates steadily decreased. The most reasonable answer is that the ships dissapeared from pirates stealing and sinking the vessels of there victims.

The triangle has some wierd metallic strength that makes compasses and gyros not work, so when planes or vessels go through there, they lose all direction and start going off course. Then of course if they are planes they will be lost at sea when their fuel runs out.

According to a publication, published many moons ago by an organization called A.M.O.R.C., there's no mystery really.
Apparently all the disappearances can be directly attributed to some natural phenomenon occurring at the time.
Maybe you can check out this organization and its publication and come to your own conclusions.

u know the story when
this island came in
highlight in present world?
actually the island is not triangular
in shape it is situated in
between 3 cities which make
a triangle btwn them.
some scientists b'leve it's a
sort of magnetic force
(which is somehow
increased in that perticular place)
situated in deep sea &
attracts air & water ship
towards it but no one
has located it yet.
Some of them b'lev that in that area
magnetic field of earth has not a
definite direction & it varies vary fast
& thus the ships are lost there.
It is also said that communication
is always lost in that area.

Some think that there is a lot of gases trapped under the seafloor, and sometimes they escape and can wreck havoc on boats and even aircraft.

the amount of methane gas is high...
which leads to improper deflection of scale...
hence there is no deflection...
so people think they are lost..
but they are found in th north pole...
