judy had some raisins.she ate one and gave half to her sister.she ate another and then gave one third to her brother.she now has six left.how many did she have to begin with?

Lets do this problem in reverse order.
After giving 1/3 to her brother she is left with 6.
That means she has 2/3 of what she had.
that means she had 3*6/2 = 9 raisins before she gave it to her brother.
Now add one she ate. So 10.
Now she gave half to her sister that means she had 20.
Add 1 which she ate before that... so 21.
