Japanese Car makers have more pride, also a fear that if they no work good for company , company will fire them,
american car makers have whats called a union,
union workers are genreally lazier and tend to have an I dont care attitude,
Case in Point look at manufacturers warranty's
Most american cars have a 3 year warranty, when Kia and Hyundai offer a 10. they have more faith in there products.

there is no exact answer to your question,its a combination of thing,s,,like superior quality parts,each part used in making a Toyota,is tested individually,American manufacture,s only test about,,1 out of every 50 parts for quality,and tolerance,also you will notice the tighter fit of all the parts on these cars,again,not only are all the parts checked,,but the cars built are checked more often,this cuts down on the amount of problems they have with the cars,and the machinery used in manufacturing the cars,is always up to date,,and is constantly monitored for accuracy,as is with the employ,s who operate the machine,s,all this combined ,,makes a better automobile,and this is only a few reasons,,the list goes on,,,and on,,but i hope this gives you a better idea of why they last longer.
