1) They have to beat Ghana
2) Italy has to beat the Czech Republic
There is another way they could advance, but it's highly unlikely:
1) USA beats Ghana by four or more goals
2) Italy and Czech Republic draw 0-0
If the USA beats Ghana 4-0 in this scenario, I believe that the USA would advance based on having scored more goals.
They could also advance if the Czechs were to beat Italy:
1) Czechs beat Italy by two goals
2) USA beats Ghana by four goals
That would have Italy and USA level at four points, but the US would have a +1 goal differential, while the Italians would have 0 goal differential.
There is no way for the United States to win the group, though. Should they finish second, they would most likely face Brazil in the second round. This will mean that Italy and the Czechs will play hard to avoid finishing second and having to face Brazil, which would work in the USA's favor

There are two possibilities and both are very interesting.
Italy at present is on top with four points(with a goal difference of +2) and the USA has one point(with a goal difference of -3). For USA to go through to the next round Czechs must win against Italy and USA must win against Ghana by a six goal margin to eliminate Italy.
Another interesting possibility: Italy must win against Czech Republic and USA need to just win against Ghana by a single goal. If this happens, Czech and Ghana will pack and go home and Italy and the USA will go to the next round.

Lol, well they tied Italy, and they lost vs Czech Republic. They have a tie and a loss. Italy has a win and a tie. Ghana has a win and a loss. Czech has a win and a loss. They would have to beat Ghana to get into the next round.

They need to beat Ghana and hope the Czech Republic loses to Italy. That would give US 4 points, Ghana and Czech Republic 3 points.
If Italy & Czech Republic draw or Czech Republic win, US would have to beat Ghana by at least 4 goals to go through.

To advance, we have to come out on fire when we play Ghana... We need to win by liek 4 or 5 goals to advance, so all I can say is pray that we win, cause were going to need some help, especially with 2 of our players out due too many yellow cards...

Since Ghana beat Czechoslavakia (hope that's spelled right) in that game, Ghana will go on to play against U.S., and I believe Czech will play against Italy. The U.S. team will have to beat Ghana.

they will have to beat Ghana, & Czech Republic should also beat Italy. They cannot advance to the next round because U.S.A. will not beat Ghana.
