My baby is just over 9 weeks old, she got her first immunisations 4 days ago. Since then she has been fretful and shaking her head about, chewing her hands and dribbling. she also has diarrheoa.
Is she too young to be teething? Could some of the symptoms be due to immunisations? (fretful, daiorrhea)

If you have any concerns you should take your baby to the Doctor. The chewing hands and dribbling and in some cases the runs are all indicators of teething. But you should still get her checked out just to be on the safe side! I felt like I was always at the Doctors with my children but at least it puts your mind at rest.

My little guy started doing the same thing around 3 months as well. Cut his first tooth around 4, then started drooling a lot and cut his second tooth on his 5th month birthday. So, it may be teething, or he may just be finding his hands. (Babies learn a lot about textures by putting things into their mouths). Apparently, as a child I started showing signs of teething at 3 months but didn't cut my first tooth until 9, so you really never know until it happens. You could try looking to see if there are little white dots on his gums....you can see those shortly before the teeth cut through. Also, try feeling (mostlikely the bottom) with the pad of your finger to see if you can feel anything.

My uncle was born with a tooth, and my son started teething at 2.5 months, so I'd say yes she's teething. A good teething ring will help, although it'll take her a few weeks getting the hang of biting it, she'll have so much else to learn. Also ask your Dr if you can give her teething powder. My brother used it on my niece cause she was really sore when teething. Might be a more hygienic way than putting gel on your dirty fingers and rubbing it in her mouth, but I'm not sure if there's an age restriction on them.
Good Luck

And Congratulations...

Teeth can start coming through at any time... Use Bonjela to try and ease any pain...

And give her something to chew on, like a teething ring...

Could be that some of the symptoms are related to the jab... Speak to your doctor/health visitor

I would contact the doctor. It is possible that she is teething already. I got my first tooth at three months old. However it sounds more like side effects from the immunizations. I would rather be safe than sorry and check with a doctor!

Could be both. Those are definitely symptoms of teething, but some infants have the same reaction to immunizations. Just keep a close eye and if anything gets worse, call your pediatrician.

yes, some of the symptoms sound like it could be from the immunizations, check with her doc. It is never to early for a baby to start teething also, some are even born with a tooth! I would check with her doc just to be sure she's ok though.

at 9weeks and in any young children, never think twice about taking them to the doctors to get checked out,but it is possible that she could be teething at that age but it is always best to make sure that your baby has got no side effects,i am not a doctor but i am a mother of two and both my kids had there first tooth at 8 weeks, hope this helps......remember doctors are free!

have a feel in her mouth.... if you feel teeth coming through or about to come through then it could be teething, some kids are born with teeth so they can get them any age!!
another sign are some kids get spots or red patches on their cheeks from the teeth...

but dont dismiss it as simply teething, it could be the jabs, ask a doctor and they can tell you for sure....

dont panic, i know that sounds silly considering but im sure its nothing major, i hope it all works out for you and little one too

:)

hi,
my son just had his two month checkup(a week or so ago) , and he had the same symptoms, and he now is getting two lower teeth. I use baby ambosol, tyonal at night and he is doing fine. my doctor told me they have diorrhea because of the weather and the slight tempature they get when teething. It does pass though.
